She has a brother out in Denver and since dad passed she has already driven out there twice from Bartlesville, Ok, which is about 12 hrs. The first time a granddaughter went out and back with her and this last time my sister went out with her and then flew back. Well she's ready to come home now but doesn't have anybody to come back with her. She's 74, a young 74, but still, I can't very well in good conscience let her drive back here by herself, which is about 11 hrs, to my place so I get to fly out to Denver Monday and drive her back.

What I'm getting at is I had to tell her, nicely, this is probably going to be her last long distance driving experience by herself and she agreed. It was just strange having to tell my mother that she couldn't do something.

I have a brother and a sister, the brother isn't really involved and the sister is but mom seems to be leaning on me more and more for advice, help at her place, and other things. It's odd how roles reverse as you get older, I'm 55. She always took care of me and now it's my turn.

That's cool you are able to help her out like that!! It's a tough conversation to tell a parent they shouldn't, or can't do something they're used to doing. Safe travels!!

Did me some shoppin this mornin while pickin up some oil for the old girl.

Went back to the shop, changed oil, tightened what’s loosened since last time, and threw a new set of batteries in for good measure.

Ready to roll again.

Looks like a readily available part so maybe not as bad as I thought it may be? Still waiting on my local parts house for price and availability. I can’t work on the truck today anyway. I’m taking my wife up to the big city to the airport to go visit here sister for a week.

It will be here through my local supplier on Monday for $760.00. I may have to go pick it up in the morning if it misses the local delivery truck?
