i agree that a real truck should have 3 pedals regardless of its vintage. my assigned truck? 2006 peterbilt 386 with an 18 speed. it has a reliable C15 cat engine. it does not have a DEF tank or regen. im keeping her until they pull the truck out from under me and sell it. its been a decent running truck so far, it is almost NEVER in the shop, only when it needs a PM.

"automatics" are great for heavy traffic... Nope, they just shift back and forth between gears when you are trying to maintain a constant speed. The Manual override dosn't last long enough to be useful.

its just allot of grief, i prefer to be in control. i think a manual offers even more advantages in the snow and bad weather. YOU have control, if the road conditions are very poor, you might not want to be shifting, and then the truck shifts anyways.

if you KNOW how to shift you SHOULDN'T need an automatic.

automatics are just one more step closer to full truck automation, which i am fully against.

I bet you are driving a car or truck made with a lot of automation. This argument can go on and on. I have been driving something that had a clutch for 52 years. I get it. I can do it. I believe it comes down to where you run. If you are in traffic everyday, an automatic is nice. I bet some of you guys that are thrilled with shifting get in high gear and stay there for hours. When you get older and the knees creak, you will be very glad to have an auto so you can keep driving.

Years ago, after the age of the dinosaur, there was the age of Man. But now the age of Men is almost over. One day some congresswoman is going to convince everyone that having stones is a bad thing. And they're going to say that having a pair of stones is bad. And they will have people in Hollywood tell everyone how calm and happy they were when they had their bag emptied. And women will refuse to have anything to do with a guy that still has his nuts.

And all the spineless and the sheep will have their nuts removed in droves. The only guys that will have stones will be the few remaining Men.

"But Six, how will people have kids?"

Fertility clinics, just like the Hollywood people already do. In fact, the only ones that will keep their stones are the extremely wealthy of the world. Hmmm, I wonder why that is...

actually no. my car 1996 camaro Z28 lt1, not much automation there..... ok so it has an early ABS system, traction control, and an automatic trans. that's my summer car, my winter car.... 1991 cavalier. my wife's car 1990 grand prix (southern car super nice for its age). i have little use for automation.

frankly i WISH i could get a manual shift car easier and cheaper but they are much less common, and in the case of the camaro actually demand significantly more money. do any of my cars have straight up automation? blind spot monitors? automatic parking assist? adaptive cruise? backup camera? even automatic headlights? answer to all of tese things NO. frankly i will keep driving old cars as long as i can

my truck at work 2006 peterbilt 386, 18 speed manual, C15 cat..... not a whole lot of automation there either.

i learned how to drive a car a long, long time ago. i know how to drive and i dont need self driving vehicles that just make you more lazy.

if you are talking about the manufacturing process, yeah that has been automated a long time ago..... eliminated jobs then, as automation grows the possible number of jobs shrinks.

I don't like automatic transmissions whatsoever even on cars.

Manual transmissions Outlast automatics 10 to 1 and are so much cheaper and easier to work on. I would much rather put a clutch in my car then send it to somebody to have an automatic rebuilt. And the price for a tractor-trailer automatic transmission to be rebuilt or have someone work on it is absolutely astronomical.

And everything I own is a mechanical diesel, everything I own has a manual transmission.

Including my mechanical diesel Volkswagen with a 5-speed transmission. What a great car.

Even my lawn mower has a mechanical diesel.

Automation is not my bag baby!
