I am in Allentown Pa. and turn off 22 and clutch pedal won't go down. It broke the plastic top of the rod that is attached to pedal on 2000 volvo any help with parts or service will be well appreciated. Been sitting since 230 am.

I have a 2001 Volvo, and when my clutch pedal froze about 6 years ago and wouldn't go down it was because the master clutch cylinder piston rod broke internally causing it to jam.

The only solution was to replace the master clutch cylinder on-site, or have it towed to a shop to be replaced.

I was pretty much dead in the water, so I had to have it towed to a shop.

In your situation, the plastic tip that broke is on the clutch master cylinder and it is non-serviceable, you'll need to replace the whole master cylinder assembly.

It would also be a good preventive maintenance idea to replace the slave cylinder on the transmission, (if it is still the original) since you will need to bleed the system anyways.

A bummer for sure, having to be towed just for a hydraulic assist clutch system. Makes me appreciate the linkage set up on my 379 pete. Not saying to be smart but hydraulic assist clutches are great till they die. My friends new kw has some kind of air assist clutch pedal. Mayby i am old fashioned but the more stuff like that the more trouble.

Can you start the truck with it in low gear and float the gears to get to a shop?

Like pumpkin said. Release the brakes put it in low gear and start it and float the gears the rest of the way. It'll be a little shaky/ intimidating the first few times but you'll get the hang of it. I brought my truck 65 miles home that way. Time the lights as much as you can and pray for no traffic jams! Lol

8085690.main_2.jpg The plastic piece is part of the master cylinder, it's not serviceable.

It is better to wait for them to deliver the parts.....and park somewhere safe.... then it is just a waiting game.

I agree, if it was a few miles down the road.......maybe.

But if you're driving a partially disabled commercial vehicle and an accident occurs because you couldn't control your vehicle, guess who's going to get the blame?

You are. It's not worth the risk.

Call a UBER driver and get a ride to the Volvo Stealership in Conshohocken for the part, it's about 49 miles away.
