Owner Operator here, just applied for a position and I did not list an accident that was not my fault. Needless to say I was rejected. I was under the assumption that because it was not my fault I didn't have to list it. Is there any way to rectify this?

Probably not at that carrier. They look at as giving a false statement. In their eyes, once you've falsified, you've falsified. No mulligans here.
Don't do it again.Last edited: May 24, 2018

If there is a accident with damage, who is at fault does not matter here with just property damage.
I took out a small amount of curb in Sayre NY, call it 900 in damaged and lost wages replacing it by that crew that built it just that morning before i got there.
It took me three employers explaning that particular accident in story telling with evidence from screenshots of google earth of that place before one would accept me for that job.
There is one other seriously powerful lesson for me in that particular accident. I had told the crew boss demanding me to pull into that lot with the spread axle flatbed that it will break that curb it wont fit. I fianlly escalated to profanity and yelling at him that that big truck WILL NOT fit without breaking his (*&^ curbing.
He lost temper and yelled get that POS in there you *&^% I don't give a *&^% about your precious Curbing. What's wrong with you boy have you lost [big time insults etc]
Needless to say I added power to be sure that curb failed in full view of everyone. Leaned out the window and yelled, you never listen, and now here we are.
They exploded at that point.
Lesson: never ever physically put a big truck into a situation you know you are going to break something in your professional judgement. I'll take that whole stupid load right back to the shipper for free first. Customers are not always right.adayrider, Metallica88, mtoo and 3 others Thank this. -

I think he misses sitting at the truckstop counter.

Technically yes you are supposed to come forward with this info on the application as silly as it seems for some of the little stuff. Maybe wait a little while and submit another app to them if your still interested. Unfortunately they are the only ones who get to play the lying game during the hiring process.
PE_T, Snakeschasingcars and Bean Jr. Thank this. -
To be honest, I don’t think I’d wanna work for a company that’s that dang nit-picky anyway. If they’re gonna act like that right off the bat, I can only imagine how they’re gonna be down the road.
adayrider, shogun, TallJoe and 1 other person Thank this. -
Most apps say "any accidents or incidents" ? Right ?
PE_T, REO6205, Bean Jr. and 1 other person Thank this. -
C'mon! It was not a very immoral lie. You don't go to hell for that. On a moral scale, a waitress not disclosing all of her cash tips to IRS is even worse a liar. At fault accidents are the only ones that should matter. Had he told them the truth, it could still count against him. I would have checked my MVR first, before lying like that.
