Sure they will. Hopefully there will be plenty of dinosaur trucks available, but you should read the original post. It is about one's personal feelings about auto vs manual. If that means to you that autoT will replace manual, that's your feelings on the matter. If @rank posts how he hates them on many levels, that's his feelings on the matter, and you are both 100% on topic.

Yup. In PA you have a auto trans restriction if you take the test with one....lol -
This pissing contest you guys are engaged in is ridiculous at best but carry on if it's somehow going to prove an unprovable point.Bean Jr. Thanks this. -
To have a stick or not to have a stick that is the question...

My automatic was making driving so easy yesterday. I had to run that detour for I-77 in WV then up to US19 and then I-79 then up to I-68 east. All with 43,000 lbs in the trailer. I just let the computers and transmission do all the work. While I worked on driving !
The down hill mode on transmission for the big hills, sure is nice. You don't even have to touch the brakes ! -
Most of the transmissions that are labelled 'automatic' are automated manual transmissions with automatic and manual capability. Some examples include the Volvo I-Shift and Detroit DT12. Allison is the primary manufacturer of fully-automatic transmissions for semi trucks.

Read this for whatever it's worth. The report is very lacking in details. I can not find any other similar news story related to a big truck ... I can only assume this was a truck with an automatic transmission and I can not dismiss the idea fried electronics can not a leave a truck with auto trans and electronic engine controls in a state of non-control by the operator. But wish they would elaborate more on what was actually done to get it stopped

I’d probably resort to just turning the key off.
