I have an interview with ups freight as a road driver on Tuesday. Does anybody have any info on pay, how much you will work, or the job it’s self? The add says almost .71 cents per mile and a pension plan. I would be leaving a job where I make 80k a year no problem and never worry about working. Any info would be great!! This is Also in Sacramento ,Ca if that matters.

That’s top out rate in 4 years. Your gonna take a pay cut for the first couple years. Think starting is .43cpm and 18hr. It depends on how busy the terminal in Sac is. They don’t care if you work either. You could work 50hrs then 20 hrs. They want a person who lives in their moms basement. I turned down the job 2 months ago here in Denver. The Terminal manager said she wanted to hire me but knows I make a lot of money and had me think about it. So I respectfully turned it down. If you can manage making 50’s-60’s which that will likely be the range for the first year then is goes up. I say go for it cause in the long run it’s worth it. 4 years of a pay cut for me would be roughly 100k I would lose in my first 4 years if i left my company. That could pretty much pay part of my house off.

They're always hiring because they're always growing. Even the LTL companies are building new terminals all over the USA and hurting for drivers because they're also growing. The economy is booming right now.

Many premium driving jobs that used to require 1 or 2 yrs. experience are now hiring new cdl grads and have "dock to driver" programs now. Not too long ago that was unheard of.
One tanker outfit I worked for used to require 2 yrs. experience and by the time I left that were advertising for new cdl grads.

.43 cpm and 18 an hour to start. In Sacramento, ca.
That's just enough for you not to qualify for food
    Stamps in California.
If you got a 1 bedroom apartment your broke.

So what is it in say,Jackson ms.
.32 cpm and 13 an hour to start.

    I thought ups paid something.
Do they even pay time and a half over 40.

    Cat sdp Thanks this.

They do pay well. You just got to suffer for a little. They are a pay your dues type company before we pay you. Their senior drivers make 120k or more.
