    What do you do now?

And it depends largely on the terminal whether you'll be working consistently or not............

Ask the mgr/interviewer, Is the position a guaranteed run position?

You may want to hang around and ask the P+D drivers, as well as the road drivers at this terminal whether it's busy or not.

Looking at the map, there are two terminals just in Sacramento alone, and whole mess of other terminals in/nearby Frisco/n.cal.

May want to ask the mgr where you will be running.

All the non-guaranteed positions i've had whether it be city P+D or road, you pretty much work everyday. But again, it depends so much on the terminal.

As far as the road job itself: Best job in trucking----provided you can sleep well during the daytime, and stay awake all night.......................

You can download UPSF's current contract from the Teamster's website....

    UPS Freight Agreement, 2013 – 2018

Here's the pay progression for City Driver/P&D and top rate....

And here's the pay progression for Road Driver/Linehaul and top rate....

Currently UPSF is in contract negotiations. For updates, you can also go to the Teamster's website....

    UPS/UPSF Contract Updates

I personally would wait after July when negotiations are over. You'll probably start off at a higher pay level than the current contract and reaching top rate may drop back down to 3 years instead of 4. All depends on if negotiations go well. There's a lot of talk about a Strike. Teamster's vote for an "authorization to strike" seems to be overwhelmingly leaning towards YES. This gives the Union negotiators the pre-approval from it's members to call for a strike if the offer that is made is unacceptable. Main issue that concerns UPSF is the subcontracting of work...which UPSF has found a loophole in the contract under Article 44, section B...and has been abusing this loophole to subcontract work while Linehaul drivers are sitting at home....

As mentioned before, each terminal is run differently, so consistency and job duties may vary from barn to barn.

Thanks for the info. I’m definitely staying put where I’m at. I can’t take a pay cut like that.
