So here we see two trucks coming down the Alp d' Huez, the Kenworth and a European truck. You don't hear the European truck, but the Kenworth makes its presence very noticeable with an awful lot of noise. Suppose you live along this road (as people do), and that thing comes down the road? I can assure you that truck would not be tolerated if it would be used regularly there.

The French? Perhaps a few French truckers, certainly not "The French". Cool? Yeah, it's very cool to drive through small sleepy French villages with a 'loud pipe', although I think the people in those villages would call it asocial.

    Very true.

This discussion has highlighted the difference in thinking on both sides of the big pond.

Europeans want a practical, functional, and comfortable truck. Of course it should look nice, but a good working place is more important.

Americans are so fixated on looks, that they gladly partly give up these three things for what they think are better looks. Not being able to stand in your sleeper is fine, if it makes the truck look better. Using smooth stainless plates looks better, so don't use diamond plates, even if those smooth plates are slippery and downright dangerous.

I suppose that's why you can see many US trucks on shows here, but hardly any actually being used to work with. Great show items, but that's it.

I think the cab on the 379’s is a couple inches wider vs the 359’s.

Diamond plate can look great paint it and than remove paint on top of profile like they do in NL.

it is interesting to me that all trucks on peterbilt steve have trailer hoses bracket that is not best looking one, also wires and hoses that goes to brackrt are ugly

My guess would be that he updates those when the deck plates are put on........
