    I really don't mind anybody who signed that blank check to the government with a value of "up to and including your life" receiving benefits from the government even after their service has ended...because even if they only operated a forklift on American soil and never saw a weapon after basic training, the call could have come in and they would have deployed.

    The people I get frustrated with are those perfectly capable of finding a job, but choose to do nothing with their life because it's easy to sit on their can with their hand out receiving benefits from the government.

    you also could have signed up and got the free medical care so maybe when you were at home laughing at the idiots that signed up they might have done the right thing .... when you sign up you have no idea what is going to happen or were you will be for the most part and when they get out they are 4 yrs behind the people who did not go experience wise for jobs .... well maybe you are the one that has been mooching the freedom others have fough for .... you didn't do anything to earn it and I don't care if your grandfather drove Eisenhowers jeep you didn't do one #### thing ........ and it is a good thing most veterans do not care if you served or not ... most don't like you being a pinko democrat but fought for your right to be a complete ####### anyways

    Have you ever signed up for the military, because as far as I know when you signed up you don't choose I just want to ride the forklift in a warehouse in norfolk, you might be lucky to get that duty station, but right out the gate they tell you be prepared to go on the front line. When you are in the military you automatically becomes a target no matter you job or duty status that's why they don't recommend travel in uniform. If I did drug ops in south america, do you think the cartels that lose bails of pure uncut cocaine know that I was in the operation would forgive me and give me a pass now 7 years later?

    Heck, you don't even need $75k to buy a decent truck. Find $60-70k truck at a dealer, put 10% down, and have another $8-10k for emergency repairs, go out and create positive cash flow within two weeks by leasing on to someone. That's just saving $15-16k. That is doable as a company driver.

    yeah really I don't buy 75000 truck .. I like the 40 to 50 k range ..... my buddy doesn't pay over 10k (throws a rebuilt engine and useually change the clutch and tranny ....... I call it a west Virginia glider kit

    Your original statement was "there's got to be a good lease program". I did complete two lease purchase contracts with May Trucking. I got clear title in my name both times. When I sold those trucks, the check was written out to me in my name only. It wasn't easy but I did it. I had good credit but couldn't save enough money to buy a truck on my own. In the end the lease purchase allowed me to become a true owner operator. The most important thing is to find an honest company. There are other honest companies in addition to May Trucking. Use your own judgement.
    There plenty of negative comments about doing a lease purchase. There are plenty of companies that are dishonest that will cheat you. Everybody has their opinion. If I had not done lease purchase I would have never become an owner operator. I kept focus on the goal, completing the contract and owning my truck. I did my best to be efficient. I didnot argue with my dispatch nor turn down loads. I worked for and with the company.
    I am retired now. I don't know how elogs will affect revenue. Hopefully a successful owner operator will post here with some reliable tips about working under elog.
    My avatar picture is of my 1959 Pete. I operated that truck in Calif from 1985 until the end of 1991. Running local. It was a rough game. Got behind on income tax, had to park it.

    I did have I
    I had a '66 359 wide nose hood on my 351 plus a lot of other mods. I don't know if I'm "the guy" you asked about. I was based out of Manteca, l pulled for Kooyman, Keep on Trucking, Athens Transport, Preferred Transport, Roy Thomas and some direct hauls from a metal building company in Lodi. I ran that Pete from 1984 until the end of 1991.
