I’ve used the south bend clutches in a dodge Cummins applications before.
Good quality set up but monster pedal push in a pickup.
I’m at 2000 torque so the easy pedal 2050 should take care of the problem I would think.

Yea it will be fine tell you bump it up some more and then there goes the clutch again. Im a fan of upgrading at least one step higher so you dont have to do the work twice in a short amount of time.

    Hulld Thanks this.

That is bad advice, they don’t build big truck clutches in house, so if anything happens you are out of luck, the clutches they sell are IATCO, find a dealer locally if going that route.

Mid American is another decent aftermarket builder, but for what youare doing a stock 2050 will hold.

The difference besides number of friction pads on each disc is that the higher rated clutch will have stronger springs.

A 2050 will have around 4000lbs of plate load while a 1650 might be 3600lbs.

Also, I forgot to mention the 2050 will require a flywheel with the larger center bore to clear the clutch disc springs.

Do you have an idea of bore diameter for the 2050?

Your Detroit will all ready have the bigger opening. My buddy put a 2050 in his 06 Detroit had no problems. I also put a 2050 in my 2000 year 14L ddec4. No problems.

If I remember right some the older trucks like 3406b cats had a 8.5 inch opening. I know this because I had my flywheel bore machined bigger on my B back in the day. Or just put a reman flywheel on for a E model. You need a 10 inch or 10.5 to clear the bigger hub on the 2050. But most of the newer engines now have the bigger bore.

10" bore. Pretty much standard flywheel since electronic motors for 15.5" clutches.

    Hey guys .
I’m about to replace my rear main seal and while i’m there i want to replace the clutch and some stuff around, but my question is:
My truck is Volvo has cummins isx 15 with 500hp and 13 speed eaton fuller.
Current clutch has 1m miles and still no issue beside the bearing that is little worn and makes some ringing noise. This clutch has 9 springs, 4 paddle, 1650torque it is solo clutch self adj.
I called volvo they want $1900 just the clutch which i think is too much. I found in local store same clutch 9 springs 4 paddle solo clutch also self adj. and this one has 1700torque. Will it make any difference on the engine on the transmission ?

    thank you for any replies
