LA to Seattle, WA was paying crazy good last couple of weeks. I guess that has some bearing on where you're at.
What should be an owner operator net income per year?

While I'm at it and since I'm waiting for the receiver to finish, I want to add a couple of things to my ramblings
Looking at the $2.00 per mile operations costs assumption which includes wages and benefits.
For the guy/guy who is operating as an O/O or L/O, at $2.00 ALL miles revenue, you are only buying yourself a job.
Consider this though, most lease operators are turning less than $2.00 ALL miles revenue. What does that tell you?
I get all the stuff about independence, being your own boss, etc. However, this industry has a lot of liability attached to it. One better think long and hard about that before jumping into the pool, especially the lease op pool.Tug Toy, SL3406, rank and 1 other person Thank this. -

Ought to be put in bold at the top of several sub forums on this site.Tug Toy, rank and Scooter Jones Thank this. -

It takes times to build that kind of relationship as an owner operator.
One thing I can assure you of though, for the most part, the rate you see posted on a loadboard, is NOT the bottom lineTug Toy and SteveScott Thank this. -
It's also important to know that not all the loads on the board are the same. The good loads are the ones that pay fairly and have great routes/shippers/receivers. The second part is a lot more subjective than the first, but if you aren't factoring it in (mainly by charging the crap routes and people more money) you're really hurting yourself.
