I love seeing guys rail against tracking apps. Just means more good paying freight for me.

But when the apps invite another party to access my data by creating a weakness....

My devices have no room for something I am not gonna use....

But as stated by a few here no one has ever lost a load or been turned down for not putting that crap on your phone.

The first attempt on me was from TQL....Some foreigner (India) company called my cell and said what is the problem you have to put this on! I said F you who the hell are you!!??? . He said are you refusing? I said I am already under the load and you are dang right I am refusing...never ever call me again. Not one single broker has asked me since...

The problem is not with the developers or users of these lojack apps, it's with the fact that they have not made them 100% secure from 3rd parties exploiting a weakness in their security regardless of how much permission you give it access to.

That “weakness” may be there by design.

    Where’s my tin foil hat?:biggrin_25524:

I actually do have a flip phone, company provided.
got a robo-call ,saying it was the monthly update to tracking for a load I hauled a month ago.
no app downloaded, just an annoying call at 0200. googled some tracking companies and found out it was 4Kites.
so, no, they don't always erase your number and stop tracking.

    DSK333 Thanks this.

All kinds. I only do dog food and bottled water. Some of it is sensitive in nature though.

    One other thing.

OP how many loads have you pulled for that broker?

I mean do you have a track record where they can go "Yea, that guys done 25 loads for us, many were just a PIA, he's bullet proof."

Or is this the first one?

Famous last words "Just trust me."

Do you get written freight bills, or are you on a unshakable trust with everyone?

I think Landstar spends like 30% of its operating budget on I.T.
Comdata got screwed up once cause somebody tried to hack it, and they had to go through and reset every single persons app, one by one, because each account has its own ( 128 byte encryption ), and they did it in 48 hours.
Wells Fargo has encryption that rivals a nuclear submarine.

So good luck to all fooling with that, cause all your gonna wind up with is a knock on the door looking at a badge through the eye viewer that says "Special Agent".

I dropped that load BTW. Now they can track me from this TA to the KFC, probably the Beacon, possibly the Chinese place past the Pilot.
