PLEASE HELP!!! This is my first purchase of big trk & for sure should have dove deeper into the vehicle history & potential problems. But now water under the bridge now.
2013 D13 Volvo; Low miles (313k) bought at dealer in Fontana, Ca. I felt something of power loss at 1,600 RPM. I asked dealer to look into it as he was doing good on most issues. But I failed to follow up on this one & now in Midland,TX. everybody is backed up here & it may take weeks to check it out. If I could self diagnose the problem, I could fix it asap using local mehcanic.
Im thinking an injector or two. (Turbo or the chip?) The main thing it does is shakes & slight power loss at 1,600 rpm until about 1,700 rpm. Then shaking stops & pwr goes back to normal.
Please, anyone with REAL ANSWERS OR SOLUTIONS, PLEASE HELP!!! Im running low on the dough, I did buy a 50k, $ix month extended to cover my butt!!!!
Thx in advance

Injector it seems. They go bad often on volvos.
MaxzRig Thanks this. -
Do you have white with a touch of blue smoke coming out of exhaust when this happens? Also I agree with old iron on this Injectors, but perplexed by it only at 1600 rpm. When I lose injectors it seems to be through all the gears and maybe cleans up at highway speeds, unless it totally drops out on you, then it’s consistent. Problem is, so many electronic issues it could be as well.

Is this a new problem or since you got the truck..
I have a 2012 d13 and mine doesn’t like over 1600rpm either, mine doesn’t shake but does fall flat on its face, I always assumed it was the specific programming on it or the fact the new engines don’t like the rpms like the old ones
when my injectors were bad it missed and shaked at anything over 1/4 throttle over 1000rpm.. sorry can’t help.. good luckTug Toy Thanks this. -
D13 is famous for cups going and injectors. Sometimes every year. I'm no certified wrench but I wish I was. I'm not sure why the high rate of failure. It could be the high pressure of the fuel I'm thinking.

Injector cups most likely. Does it start easy in the mornimg or have a long cranking, hard start ?

What’s the purpose of running it up to 1600?

That motor gets best fuel mileage and torque at 1450 or less. It’s pointless to run it to 1600.
Elroythekid, daf105paccar and 06driver Thank this. -
Does it shake in every gear? just OD? What type of transmission?
More info would be nice.Keepforgettingmypassword Thanks this.
