I choose to be in those "unions" though. The workplace (in most states) you do NOT have that option. You're forced to pay dues to a group that pushes a Marxist agenda.

So, you're saying you need a union to bargain for you. Unions suck and they're going to take another percentage of your income. So, why would you pay them to bargain for what you can do for yourself? A broker takes his cut and then you're willing to give somebody else another cut? Only the strong survive. you've got to know what you can haul for and don't haul for anything less than that. Get all you can, don't deal with crooked, slow-pay or disrespectful brokers and always know the detention rates BEFORE you take the load. These slimy brokers that offer $20-35 hr after the free time - I just tell them what my rate is and if they don't take it, screw them. Let it sit on the dock. And always confirm that there is no more than 2 hrs MAX free time. These idiots that settle for 3 or 4 hrs free are hurting everyone. And get it ALL listed on the rate con BEFORE YOU take the load.

I said call it whatever you like!! Second I will form in a question if you use your own fuel card did you not choose a card that will give you discounts?? If so you are paying for that!!! Also if you are not lease do you take the quick pay option?? If so you are paying for that in a sense!!! How is that any different!!! I know Ooida fights for things government wise and even has options that provide savings to us ie insurance and discounts on certain models at certain dealers!!! If you use any of those what is the difference From what I’m saying!!! My one and only point was it would be nice to have a (collective) since you and @DSK333 are so against unions that would give owner operators collective buying power as the big fleets have!! You two don’t like my statement great I really don’t care I have a right to my opinion!! Just like you you two are fine the way things are hoorah I’ll survive regardless I don’t expect it to happen anyway!! If I wanted advice on how to run my business I would have started a thread or asked some of the guys in here whose opinion I respect!! I appreciate the response gentlemen glad you both have your strong opinions!! I don’t think anyone is calling nastic or Ooida unions and they do the same things as I mentioned but neither or for just owner operators!!! I will again say call it whatever you like as long as it provides better or more opportunities slash benefits for owner operators!! Call me crazy but I don’t see that as a bad thing!! Not that this thread is hoping but we are way off topic so I’m sorry for creating the narrative if you two must continue to explain to me why you guys think my opinion is wrong by all means inbox me otherwise have a great weekend I got a load to deliver and a reload to pickup!! Also appointment with a certain bar on I-90

I’ve never been in a union Since getting out of the military I now live in a union state you act like if you created a group Monday setup like Ooida but only owner operators could join you had a board and that group fought for greater purchasing leverage!! Hos eld’s In Washington!! Negotiated with the truck stop association on these ridiculous pay to park prices that would be a bad thing!!

You mentioned UNIONS specifically in your initial post so I was referring to them SPECIFICALLY and that's exactly what I'm talking about...UNIONS. I certainly see the benefit in "buying in bulk" with a collective. No doubt there. I was not disputing that at all. However, UNIONS are their own entity. So Teamsters, LIUNA, CWA, AFL etc etc what I'm talking about specifically and they are all cancer. If you support them good for you but you're helping them spread their disease and it's an illness that's almost taken this country over. Maybe you like Socialism/Communism/Marxism or maybe you aren't aware of what they do under the surface. Who knows?

So you don’t think unions were ever useful or just not now!! Second I don’t care what it’s called!! Third maybe you have never looked up the definition of a workers union so I will put it here !! an organized association of workers formed to protect and further their rights and interests!!! That is the same as a collective!! If a union gets out of hand or becomes corrupt that is on the members of that union!!! But me calling it a collective and explaining what that collective could accomplish you aren’t against it !! I’m gonna stop my response there cause this would turn into politics which I don’t think is allowed

I can’t help myself no one on this forum is old enough to have been around in 1881 when the uaw was formed!! Or the formation of the dept of labor that was later formed in 1903 because Congress became sempathic to unions and what they were initially created to do!! Which I will remind you was to provide better pay better benefits and fight for better work conditions better benefits scheduled work hours!! Has corruption destroyed some of the benefits of unions sure!! That doesn’t make it communism or socialism!! To realize a group or organization fighting together for a common cause is better than many or a few individuals trying to fight the same fight on there on!!! Okay I think I’m done now by all means bash unions some more or hit me some more for bringing it up

It's not 1881 anymore. Enjoy your union, Vlad.

Thought the slogan was make America great again lol I think I’ve said that it would never happen and I’m okay with that!! I work very hard to network and avoid the places that won’t negotiate with a single truck company!! So you enjoy your weekend your life and whatever else comes your way
