Welcome to the fraternity...I think ;-)

I got a late start in trucking as well. I was 52, that was 9 years ago.

Started out with a mega running 48 States, became a "trainer", moved on to regional line-haul for a different company.

Went into the office on the corporate side for about a year. Was a lease operator for 6 mos, then decided to get my own authority, bought a truck and trailer and do my own thing for the past 3 years or so.

Yes, it has been an interesting ride to say the least ;-)

I'm also getting into the game late. I'm 52 and I just got my permit. I hope to start school this month.
I worked in the legal game for the better part of the past 30 years and I might have stayed there had I not had a health setback that required a sabbatical which ended up being about four years. Now that I'm ready to go back to work I just can't bring myself to sit behind a desk anymore (at least working for somebody else anyway). I'm enthusiastic about getting started, but I will re-evaluate after I have spent some time behind the wheel. If all goes as planned I hope to purchase my own truck and work for myself until it's time to hang it up.
    I wish you luck.

I worked in a cubicle farm until I was 48. Same deal. I needed to get out and see the country. Love the trucks, not so much the business.

I remember when I started I had comitted to England.

I had paid cash for the school, $1700 back then.

The last day when we had gotten our licenses, it was a satellite school not the main terminal, several guys from several companies came calling in their rigs.

One dude was from TMC. He had this really nice Pete.
He's going "Sir you just look like a flat bedder."
I pointed at his work boots, and said "I've worn combat and work boots for 22 years."

Then I pointed at my sneakers.
