windjammer you do not have to stay with swift. myself i went to there school along with some friends in 06 i drove with them for three months and was starving so i left and went to another co. as of today have not pd swift a dime. now with that said yes they have called i think 6 times since i left asking about there money. im sure its on my credit but you do what you have to do. they will take payments as a few of the people i went to school with have made payments to them and a few have not. even had a coll agent say they would have my cdl pulled from the dmv. i told them a yr ago give it there best shot since theres no way they can have your cdl pulled.

He's under contract; ergo, he's employed. He's not getting paid, but he's still employed. Now, he may be able to [successfully] argue that due to the fact that he's not getting paid his contract should be terminated, but I would be surprised if that isn't already spelled out ... to the company's advantage.

BTW, don't get the impression that I am siding with the company at all. What I was indirectly pointing out is that these are typically very one-sided, very bad contracts. I have never, nor will ever, sign a contract without having read through it thoroughly first. If any organisation wants to pressure you to sign a contract without a thorough review (yours if you're competant, or your lawyer's) ... run away. But, I know most people will ignore that advice.

A recently released study shows, that 99.9% of people warned NOT to do something. Will do it anyway.

It took me 3 months to piece that study together...on this forum.

Another study (same forum) shows that 100% of those, will accuse you of being a whiner. For mentioning it.

Don't mess around and get a job as soon as possible. Break the contract and seek unemployment.

Search "cdl" on indeed.com for your area.

The longer you wait the more in the hole you will get. -and more people are losing their jobs all the time. You will see that overtime that being SwiftBooted was probably the best thing anyway.

I called Swift earlier this week just to try and get back into a truck and was told that they are not hiring any experienced drivers. Experienced driver, by their standards, is a driver who has driven more than one day.

IMO they are looking for their school to bail them out financially. Most likely will sit a driver after getting their initial starting payment and then after they go somewhere else because they are sitting and starving Swift will then sue them for breaching the contract with them.

Might be wrong on this but it that's the way it seems.

how many that go thru these schools drive with the company long enough to pay off their schooling? <5% 1yr contract, <2% 2yr contract

    I had a 1yr contract deal, now it's almost been 2yrs (3months more). I saw a few of the kids after 3months, 2 after a year. Now?

2 groups of 30 went thru my school. Schneider, GB

=trucking is for the solitary few. -paid off some debts for me though. First six months the pay is low --> slowly gets better. Start-up costs are high, gps, laptop, DC freezer etc.

Okay, Bummed out I am but after today, you all need to know about the new "work Well" Testing. I came out here, hired as experienced (23 years (stops and starts) I have an excellent safety record on the road. I was barely ableto lift the 65 lbs but I did it, but unfortunately I guess frustrated comments are taken seriously. I jokingly said "tooheavy" and got pulled out. They told me I was going home. I went back to prove my point, but no matter...I twisted a bit, so no go. Then got told ( I hate assuming people) that I would be unable to complete the test because I could not make the lift. We had to carry consecutivelt 25,45,65,75 lbs a short distance back and forth. I am so mad I could scream. So here I sit, waiting to go home tomorrow on the bus. Oh well, live and learn. The test was in Syracuse, I hear it differs in other Operations Centers. What can you expect from the East Coast???
