Send an Email and resign, before they get the chance to fire you.
This way you have proof with date and time you resigned.
You don't need to give a reason to quit a job, but if you really want to, just say you "resign to pursue other opportunities. Where do you want the truck returned?"
Edit: A company can't fire you if you don't work there. Resign before they have the chance to fire you.

Can you afford to be out of work for say a month or so? If you can, tell them and roll the dice. If you need the $, just go to work at the new job and chance them not finding out, at least for a while until you can build up your savings. Good luck

You apparently have a flight to the next orientation set up.

Put the truck in the yard and turn in your notice prepared to get on that flight fired the moment you turn in that two week notice.

Document everything. Name names written down long hand in a journal to assist in explaining everything to new employer.

be prepared to challenge your dac. Get a driver video cam for facing forward that you own and hold the video on anything that happens. So cheap these days for a good one and a few moments of he said she said is settled either way with that video.

Savings always. Trucking is not something to settle into thinking no one will fire you or you are too important to be fired etc. Forget all that. One day at a time.

DO communicate above the problem source person like a bad dispatcher to operations manager or owner. His bosses. Now safety has a seperate position and in the case of being dispatch to get a load empty it's not PC. You are at work. So safety did good there. They have to. Otherwise Uncle Sam will have leaned on the entire company for violations.

    Follow me so far?

be prepared for anything and everything each day. If you are already talking quitting, there are three sides to every story and usually more comes out on TTR on page three or something. Usually if you hit stuff that does not move or is not moving it's preventable. If it involves hurt or death or towing or fire, police etc on up it's more bad for you. Depending.

A sufficient number of issues in any company sinks a driver quick. That is why a percentage of new hires are out of the industry for a while until the DAC cools off in three to 7 years depending on the nature of the violations done.

Yes, they can DAC you, but life goes on. DAC probably won't show up for awhile though. Life goes on. Some companies don't even use DAC.

Yes, this will show up. Yes, you need to disclose it to the new company. Most likely you will have to fill out a form listing any accidents, tickets, etc at orientation. This will be checked against a new copy of you driver license abstract and possibly a new DAC report.

If you fail to disclose the recent accident the new company will fire you without question. Tell them upfront and they may let it slide since you were honest. If they fire you and they use DAC, which I assume they do since you said they have already run your report, they will report that you gave false information on your application as reason for terminating you which will make it very hard to get hired anywhere else for a while.

You had an accident, it happens as none of us are perfect, but trying to hide it from future employers will not get you anywhere.

agreed. Nothing personal. Share with them what happened with the whoopsie.

THEY WILL FIRE YOU if you happened to be 2000 miles from home at that instant the moment they learn that you did not disclose a whoopsie. Someone is probably coming to get your whole rig or you will be told to come through a yard and then fired right there. My last firing was literally by a single satellite message after they matched the truck to the Arkansas Protho Yard way back when.

I had to laugh, I knew that was coming when dispatch support stopped being normal with usual daily business stuff a few days prior.
