I live in south Mississippi as well. I like Indeed.com. But am not shy of just walking in and asking for an application. When I first moved down here I would follow tankers to their yard and ask if they were hiring. You need to do what you need to do, I guess. Good luck, neighbor!

 

I live in central Miss, so take this with a grain of salt. There are several companies running dedicated out of the ports hauling bananas north to places like St. Louis and Kentucky, then taking frozen food back to the port. I think they are home every other day. Colonial Gulf Northern Express, RWI. Also there are some tanker jobs in your area. Craigslist has several jobs in Gulfport listed, don’t be afraid of craigslist, I’ve been with my current company for 7 years, found them on Craigslist, but we don’t hire in your area.

 

Try fuel tanker. They get home daily.

 

There has to be a lot of distribution centers in that area. Especially food service. Seems like every dc I deliver to these days have signs and posters up advertising they're hiring cdl drivers.

 

Craigslist is good, but the clowns like Hogan that say local and it's 60 miles up the road.

 

Forget the internet i've found the best thing is just do some of your own canvassing go in personally to a company hand them your Resume and follow up in a couple of days with a phone call the reason i'd canvass rather than fill out a online application is because your now competing with all the other would be applicants, where as when your just a walk in they may be contemplating hiring someone and you get in before they put up the advert.

 

I agree with the above. Craigslist believe it or not. You just have to weed through the garbage to get to the gem. That’s were I found my company at. Many small local companies do not post to indeed but rather Craigslist.
