Any of you guys ever been to WestRock on Dorchester in Chicago? I went there last week and missed my exit so I ended up following my GPS. Kind of glad that I did because there's a 13'4" railroad overpass on the way in if you follow the directions in the QC. But... the way my GPS brought me back out to Gary was long and painful. What's the best way in and out of this place?

Also I'd like to take a moment to say "Eff door 38 at Coca-Cola in Cincinnati."

I have never been there, just working off my memory of the area, I spend 16 years working about a mile South of there, so please take this with a grain of salt.

What way were you coming in from? From either direction on 94 I would recommend using the Stoney Island Avenue exit and hanging a left at 95th Street, which should be the first light at what I always thought of at the end of the Stoney Island Avenue exit ramp, even though technically it isn't. Dorchester should be down only ablout a half mile (?). I do not remember there being any low clearance bridges there, but as mentioned, this is just from memory.

As far as getting back out, just reverse it to get back out to 94 South/East. If it routed you out down 95th Street East and jogged you up Indianapolis Blvd, I can only say that is the slow road to hell.

Yeah Stoney Island Avenue is how the QC says to get in there. I think it's exit 65, and then take the first left onto 95th Street. However, there's a railroad overpass on there (that's not mentioned in the QC directions) that's signed 13'4". What's funny is that even though that overpass isn't mentioned, the directions say "Drive slow on 95th Street because if you hit a bump going under the bridge your trailer will hit it." Not really confidence-inspiring directions. lol

Also, this is exactly how the GPS routed me back out of there. Next time I go that way, I need a lump of coal to stick up my butt because by the time I get out to the interstate I'll have a diamond.

Okay, I don't remember the 13'4" bridge there but it was years ago when I worked in the area, and I also wasn't driving a truck at that time.

This is going to sound WAY more confusing then it is, I'm just terrible at explaining things is all...

Since it was a Westrock delivery I am assuming you were heading North on 94 to get there and not coming out of Wisconsin, the only other decent way I can think of off the top of my head to get in would be to exit before Stoney Island Ave @ 111th Street, the exit ramp goes up off the right of the expressway to a stop sign where you can make a left onto 111th Street. Don't turn left onto 111th, keep going straight on the ramp like you are going to get right back on the expressway, about half way down that ramp there is a turn off on the ramp to the right to get onto the frontage road (Doty Road). Take that turn off then hang a left onto Doty Road, which is right next to the ramp.

Stay on Doty Road and it will start to bend away from the expressway and dump out by a Railroad Road right at 103rd Street. Take a left onto Railroad and a another left right away onto 103rd Street. Stay on 103rd Street and you will go back under I-94, right after take a right onto Woodlawn Ave.

Woodlawn will bend you around and turn into 100th Street. Right after that happens look for Dorchester, if I remember correctly it's the very first street you pass. Left on Dorchester and it will take you right to Westrock.
