Before investing money in a school take a look at these stats . The numbers in the columns is thousands . That's 936,000 transportation workers unemployed in December 2008 vs 575,000 in December 2007 . The unemployment rate in transportation went from 6% in December 2007 to 9.6% in December 2008 . Do you really think there is a future for you in the transportation industry ? http://www.bls.gov/news.release/empsit.t10.htm

Sad truth isn't it

The cold hard truth is that those will be about the same percentages in all areas of the economy.
2.6 Million people lost their jobs this year.
3-6 Million more will lose their jobs this year. (expected unemployment by end of year will be 9-10% and is 7% now)
So should I apply for welfare now and just wait? Should I not bother to find work anywhere because that industry's unemployment numbers are rising as well?
Think about it.davidcboyd33 Thanks this. -
The problem with statistics...
Look at the attrition rate per company. You could get counted 2 and 3 times in the same stat and still have a job.
Next, well over 1 in 10 drivers have problematic DAC's and MVR's for one reason or another. As a newb, you can estimate your chances in the market accordingly.
And 3rd, if you don't know 1 in 10 PEOPLE that wouldn't be just fine staying home until unemployment runs out before finding another job, you don't get out much. -

I was supposed to start school with Driver Solutions March 9 but after talking to some driver friends and reading the posts here about how bad it is out there i've decided to put it off for about 6 mths to see if things get better. I hate my warehouse job but hey, it pays the bills and at least I still have a job. Good luck to all of you out there trying to make it!
