it was irresponsible and unethical for the trucking school to tell him to lie on applications. they KNEW better. but if they had told him that he would NOT be hired to drive a truck if he had a DWI conviction, the trucking school wouldn't get his business.
but in defense of werner (or any other potential company,) I wouldn't hire an alcoholic liar either. they know that if an employee will lie once, they'll do it again. only trucking companies are allowed to be habitual liars and thieves.
We are in a pickle!

Has your husband tried any of the local jobs. Here is something you might want to look at>> http://www.thetruckersreport.com/truckingindustryforum/trucking-jobs/38092-great-jobs-in-texas.html
I know its not OTR but its a start some where.WannaBe_TruckerWife1 Thanks this. -
Needless to say, he was sent packing. -
I would have to agree with alot of the post here, Werner never seems to amaze me, they seem to make there own rule as the game come to a close, sorry for all his bad luck.
A friend of mine went through the Werner training and paid for his own schooling that away he did not have any ties to what alot of others refer to as bottom feeders. And after getting all done with his trainer for 5 weeks and he went solo, they could not get him enough miles to pay his house payment. He said that his checks where somewhere around 300 to 425 a week and he sit alot waiting for load.
How did your husband pay for the school? Sign a contract and a one year committment. Have to read apps very carefully and see if they ask ever, 3 years, 5 yrs. I promise you werner already new what was there and now he owe them for the training and he has no job.
There are companies out there that will hire him he will just have to do reseach and to what there qualifications are.
Texas takes any alcohol offences serious, live there for many years, don't worry about some of the great holier than thou posters on here tell him to keep his head up, when one door closes another usually open.
Good luck and stay away from the bad Kerma.

I don't even know what to think of his school at this point. He has been in contact with them since he came back and they told him to apply at a few companies...said he should be able to get on....
get this...we looked these companies she recommended up online and they either require one year prior experience OR they won't even consider you if you had a DUI.... TMC, Arrow, to name a couple. Why would the school recommend these? It doesn't make sense. They (the school) also told him not to bother with KLLM, said they will not hire if you had a dui ever.
He looked KLLM up last night and nowhere did it say that. In fact, it was the first time on an appy where it didn't ask 'yes' or 'no'....it just said 'in the last 5 years'......so fingers crossed.
thanks to all for the help....the oilfield jobs recommendations, the links to east texas jobs on 2nd page etc etc.....I very much appreciate it! -
File this info under 'Things that would of been helpful to know prior to starting truck driving school.'
