Which school did you go to? Western Pacific is approved through them so as soon as you upgrade, you'd start getting $150 a month back from them.
You'd be dispatched out of the Jackson terminal. Western Regional runs out of Fontana and you need 6 month experience to get with them.
Most of the trucks now have APU's, although some of the older ones are hit and miss as to how well they work.
Don't count on many drive-bys during your time out. Expect to only be driving California when you come home or go back out. California is mainly run by the Western Regional crew.

Thank you for the info and answers. I am ok with the limited drive byes. How long do they expect you to be out? I guess my root question is, will it be an ordeal to get home or do they have enough freight going to CA to get me home when I request it? I plan on requesting home time the day I dispatch out after my home time giving them plenty of notice. One more thing, how difficult is it to get a non-smoking trainer? Thanks again.

My husband stays out usually 4-6 weeks at a time, by his choice. He has always gotten home on the day requested, or a day early, except for one time that his truck broke down. KLLM has been so good with getting him home on time that I planned our wedding for the day after he was scheduled to be home.
I can't answer about the non-smoking trainer. -
OK,
Let me see if I can catch up here.
No Canada
No NYC but we do go to NY state and *through* NYC on major highways. No surface streets in NYC though.
No Mexico...we drop in Laredo at forwarding companies.
And ScooterDawg-
This is an awesome company. Big enough for good freight and small enough to be able to walk into anyone's office unannounced if you have a problem. Everyone has been incredibly friendly and helpful.
Don't go to Conway...that's where the indies go when they need new tail lights....they just find the nearest Conway truck and go "shopping". HAHAHA!!! Think I'm kidding? Just saw ANOTHER Conway sans tail lights in LA the other morning.
And now my big news.....
Yes! There *is* a God!!!!!!!
After I finish unloading here, I pick up a load in Austin, TX. This load is to get me to the Jackson terminal.....
WHERE I'M GETTING A NEW TRUCK!!!!!!
This is not my O/O truck but simply a trade out of company trucks. I'm getting out of this automatic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
*HAPPY DANCE*
WHOO HOO!!!!!!!!!!!
The INCREDIBLY happy...

dont beat about the bush RT tell us how you really feel!
Baack Thanks this. -
i saw RT's automatic. i wouldn't want to drive it. she's a braver woman than i am. with any luck they'll get you into a new cascadia.
re APUs:
they're installed aftermarket, not from the factory (they're using Carrier), so if you get a shiny new truck (yeah right) it'll be rotated into jackson for an installation, during which you can stay at the bed bug motel. note that if your truck's battery dies and the freightliner dealership jumps it with a 24V jump, they've just fried your APU (and anything plugged into your 12V plugs, like your refrigerator ...) and it costs about $1000 to fix it.
btw, did we mention that RT is thrilled she's getting rid of her automatic?
finally, one item of note: KLLM has ended its 401k matching. it was already sorta lame as it was (4% match if you contributed 10%), but now they've terminated it completely. personally, without a match from the employer (meaning free money), i think there's no reason to participate in a 401k at all. your money is better invested elsewhere, like a roth ira.
oh and.
hello from the TA south of denver. eskimo should love it out here tonight. -

For tuition reimbursement...
1) You MUST get your HazMat endorsement within 90 days of upgrade. Keep your receipt for the background check and any testing fees. Make copies and turn the originals in to your recruiter. These expenses will be reimbursed. Once you have your temp (and later your hard copy license) with your HM endorsement on it, get these in to safety ASAP. They can be faxed in. Call for the fax number. Fax expenses are reimbursed also. Macro 56...learn it and love it.
2) You must have a letter or receipt from your school stating the cost of the tuition. This needs to go to your recruiter.
3) Tuition is reimbursed at a set rate per week (forget what it is because mine got jacked up and I just had them hold it until my 1 year was up and reimburse it all in one lump sum). At your one year anniversary any remaining balance is paid in a lump sum along with your truck deposit. You MUST remain employed for one year, continuously, in order to receive full reimbursement.
Hope this helps.
