I’m missing my daughters dance recital today. I’m not home for the air show this weekend.
    I won’t be around for Father’s Day.
Some of it is that we live above our means.
Some of it is maybe I’m not making what I’m worth?
Taking an unplanned 10 days off should not result in an immediate financial crisis. Yet, that’s where I was. Just got to get those ducks in a row...

    Feedman and RERM Thank this.

So my engine fan doesn’t want to come on to cool the motor off. I hear the high pitched noise when it wants to engage, but I overheated instead. Can’t imagine what this will cost, but I’m going to investigate the cheap fixes before rolling into a shop. Heavy loads in PA are going to suck tomorrow.
On the bright side, I’m meeting with the owner of the company I want to switch over to . Since I’ll be in MI on Wednesday, I’ll be meeting him on Wednesday. Hopefully another duck gets in line.

Be careful overheating that engine, you don’t need an overhaul (or worse) right now...

And they still haven’t given me the warranty paperwork...makes me wonder if they are blowing smoke up my rear.
I’m demanding to see the invoice for the engine. I need proof it’s not a repainted motor from one of the dead trucks.

    RERM Thanks this.

Kind of tired of getting the runaround when it comes to paperwork showing a new or rebuilt motor. What am I paying for? I should have had a warranty sheet in March.
My engine goes through a gallon of oil every 10 days. That’s not ordinary for a fresh rebuild is it?
Something tells me I’m going to have to pay for a lawyer

Yes, it's normal for the oil till seated. We did it on ours for four months I believe. Just run it wide open don't baby it and you will be fine.

Hopefully I get answers in the morning. I told them I’m not moving this load until I get something solid in my hand

Correction. Hubby told me a year you will use oil like that till it gets seated right. If you baby it it will take longer. You will know it's seated when it stops drinking that gallon.

    RERM and Wickedfire77 Thank this.

It's normal for a 60 series detroit so I wouldn't worry about it to much.My old company had gliders with fresh rebuilts and they did the same thing.

My truck kept overheating and shutting down . I lost all my coolant. I refilled with water just to climb a hill. It shut down on me a dozen times in PA. I limped to a service shop, and a old guy with one hand used his knowledge to troubleshoot some issues.
    1) hoses are bad, shut off all the valves until they get replaced. (Only 3 were off, that’s why it still leaked after the first “fix”)

    2) only 1 bolt is holding the fan on. There should be 6. It’s loose and that’s another factor why it’s overheating. Good thing we caught it. A fan through the radiator is a bad day.

Then he said he needed to go change a tire and he will be back and get it bolted back on tight enough until I can get it replaced properly.

I can only imagine how he lost his hand, but it doesn’t slow him down that much.
