I am a senior in high school and about to write a speech on how truckers are unappreciated by society and how people need to realize how important this job is.
Truckers, could you please answer:
1. Have you felt under appreciated and why
2. Are there specific instances when you felt that society was mistreating you (IE how many times you get cut off each day, if you get honked at, glared at, etc)
3. What are some of the downsides to your job
4. What do you suggest people do to change their ways
5. How much appreciation do you really get?
Underappreciation

I am sure truckers are willing to help answer your questions BUT asking them to post their full names FOR THEM IS NOT A GOOD IDEA....you might want to consider in your speech that you went on the web, found a truckers forum and that responses to your questions were answered using "screen names" to protcet the people who respond...and of course be sure to name the forum as your source.
ITS BEEN SAID THAT COMPANIES CHECK THESE BOARDS AND ANY NEG. COMMENTS POSTED COULD BITE THE POSTER IN THE DUFF. Asking for REAL Names is NOT a good thing for LOTS of reasons...STALKING, retaliation...the list goes on and on. JMO.
Good luck with your speech! -
How can i help you?

Okay, I gotta say it...get over it already. Nobody is gonna pat you on the back because you did a good job. Nobody is gonna appreciate you and tell you how much better off the world is because you delivered that load of toilet paper on time.
You do your job safely and to the best of your ability, and you collect your paycheck. Nobody owes you anything above and beyond that. Sure, it'd be nice to get an atta-boy once in a while. There are quite a few other professions out there that do a much more important job than we do. Where is the praise and admiration for them? I'm talking about military, law enforcement, firefighters, doctors....
I do this job because I like it, it's in my blood. I don't need someone to pat me on the back and tell me what a great person I am. I do my job, I get paid.

Okay, I feel better now....
