This Company is sinking fast, in march they had over 700 drivers they are lucky if there are 214 left. The agents are sly and will tell you one price for the loads, then give you another that you wont find out about untill months down the road, when all they can do is say the paperwork is shreded. They also have the worst safety rating in this industry and will hire anyone with a cdl thats breathing. I was a agent for them for over 9 years, they owe me over 13,000.00 and another agent 3,000.00 and one canadian agent over 345,000 yes thats right 6 figueres.

Please avoid this company with all due respects there agents will tell you anything that wil get you on. They are recruiters... thats thier job ... once your there your stuck ... they nickel and dime you untill you lose your house or truck or both. ... i have 4 drivers that run under my agency that just bearly after me and my wife helped them to leave pacer and join on elsewhere saved thier homes and trucks and jobs. Pacer will eat your lunch for you and then make you pay for it.

If your a driver AVOID THEM really, this isnt slander or anything untrue, they audited one of my drivers loads for over a year, and took his fuel surcharge and assorials out and put it on his linehaul ... he now owes pacer 4,938.22 he is leaving now also.

they have left several drivers out in the cold, one driver I took into one of my trucks as a company driver after pacer had his truck repo'd in reno,nv leaving the driver with no money and no transportation .. not even the clothes in his truck. Under one of my loads, he asked them if he could at least get 20.00 for thanksgiving dinner and they told him no but have a nice holiday. He ended up selling his used leather wallet so he could buy some ramen soup for 4 days of eating. I got him a bus ticket, to houston,tx and put him in one of my trucks ... the guy had been with pacer for a while and lost his house, and his wife due to not making any money, he is now doing good and making money, with my company, luckily. He is one of the few, lucky ones, that i could help out. There are many more out there that I cant help, that are falling behind and the stories are tearjerking to say the least. Why a company would treat their drivers that way is beyond imagination, and all I can do is detest a company that I use to drive for years ago, when they were a quality top notch company.

they do ... but PGL is a very very good company ... the transport side is the problem they are a small but very old company.. i am not sure but I beleive PGL has cut financial ties with Pacer transport. That is a possablity that has been floated around the office at central, from inside contacts.

I feel for the drivers and o/o that have gone through this to a certain point. If your losing everything you worked for and own then something is wrong. Places don't turn good or bad overnight, it takes months and sometimes years. I'm sure there was writing on the walls that no one wanted to pay attention to. I have had dealing with Pacer and they were all negative (every situation involves them low balling a customer I hauled for on rates, then no trucks show up to haul it). Like I said I do feel fo them, but more poeple need to take responsibility for themselves.

I visited the PGL home office in Dublin, OH a few years ago for a carrier meeting when they took over transportation for Delmonte. Never had any problems with them. When Delmonte closed their DC down in Birmingham and moved to Atlanta we cut ties. This trend of companies closing down their traffic departments and outsourcing to a 3PL is alarming. They turn good outbound rates into backhaul rates. I understand the motivation behind this. They can promise major savings to a customer. My concern is if this trend continues how a trucking company can survive hauling freight oubound and inbound at backhaul rates. I know I have strayed off topic but with your background as an agent I am sure you have seen this first hand. Something has got to give....eventually.

Harvester, your right. Something has to give...but it will be the truckers in the end that don't survive I hate to say. The way the industry is going with the rates, 3rd party logistics, brokers, and many other things i do not see many of the companies staying in business much longer. Its pretty bad when I can get a better rate on a load of empty pallets than I can on some high value/theft stuff.
