lmao, yeah, yeah I was *giggles*

couple weeks ago me and my son were driving home and something startled me....I said, "OH MY GOODNESS!!"

my son looks at me strangely and says, "Are you okay??"

I thought he was referring to whatever freaked me out. I said, "Yeah, I'm fine."

He goes, "Okay, good. I just never heard you say 'oh my goodness' before...you usually say something much worse."

I was Hahahaha, and then I was Ohhhhh.....that's bad.

    #### kids and their standards. :biggrin_25517:

WannaBe, just curious, what trucking school did your husband go to? I am considering the one at Elm Mott, TX.

Yes, he went to Elm Mott and liked it very much. His recruiter (from school) still keeps in touch and tries to point him in the right direction.

at this point I should add a disclaimer which says:
Any opinions stated here are mine and mine only. Not that I've said anything bad, just sayin'.

We both agree on this but here's the problem. Alot of companies are going on-line for the job application. So if a new driver goes to one and he's told to file on-line then he will assume that's what he must do for all jobs. What they fail to realize is the information they can gain by checking the place out like you mentioned. And on top of that by showing up in person you're showing the company you really want the job and you place a face to the name. That person that does the hiring just might remember when that person came into the office really wanting the job.

I worked for a company that had a 5 year waiting list for new drivers. The job applications really didn't tell me much if that driver could handle the truck the way we wanted him to. We hired a driver that stopped in the office once a month just to check and keep us up-dated on any changes he had. When the time came that showed us he really wanted to work for us.

I have to agree with ( 1pissedofdriver ) that going in person is the best
advice. Waaaaay back when I first got my CDL I did just that I went in person to local small companies for a driving job.

I still remember it, I didn't have any past employment of driving a truck except what my dad taught me, and I couldn't verify it, if you know what I mean. :biggrin_255: So after visiting a couple of local companies "in person" I came across a company that was trying to expand and the owner didn't really need a driver right then, but figured soon he would, so he hired me and gave me a chance to prove myself. Still to this day that was the best company I had ever worked for, wish I would have never quite him.

I do believe that the best place to start is locally if possible and in person. It may seem to be a bottom feeder job, but you might be surprised and actually find a good company. If you look for a small company that was started by a driver, you may even have better luck because they know what its like to try and get experience just starting off and usually they only care about whats on your MVR and don't give a **** about DAC because they know it is bull.

Sorry for the long winded post.

I don't know if you're asking me that, but he is totally happy with his schooling experience.

I dunno if you could say they (the school) gave us bad info...it just didn't make sense to me. For example, his recruiter told him to apply at a company, so he calls them and the company tells him they require experience.

Maybe the company was looking at his past dwi and just told him that 'to be polite'. Who knows.

In any case, I am happy to report he has been accepted at orientation for another job. :yes2557:

And don't hate on me, but I am keeping the company name private for now. I don't wanna jinx him
