Brand new MX13's? My company had a batch of a dozen 2012's that were all duds. Needed full rebuilds before the warranty expired (which was 400,000 miles). 2013's got a little better, but not without removing the offending garbage. 2014's and 2015's a little better, but still problematic.

We don't have too many 16's and 17's, and the only 18 is a 567 with an "experimental" motor that blew up after less than 100,000 miles (some tune package Texas apparently applied to it to give it more power). I'm sure they've gotten better, but I don't think Paccar is going to be able to keep up with Cummins at this point, it's an over-engineered pile of ####. The lead mechanic has told me everything I need to know about why owning one isn't a good idea.

Wire harnesses are cheap (aluminum mixed with copper), routed in stupid places (requiring a lot more work to chase down a short), tons of "stuff" to take off the motor just to access things like the fuel pump, etc, if you need any service done to the transmission in an aero-cab, they have to cut a hole in the floor in the cab and will place a cover over it instead of replacing the floor panel.... and the list goes on.

It's not designed/built under the "KISS" method.

Kustom Truck is selling factory reman 6NZ C-15's for $45,000 USD. If you want a bullet proof motor, that's the be-all-and-end-all.

Doesn't have a choice as a company driver, lol. Owner doesn't believe in tuning anything until the warranty, that basically covers just emissions problems at this point, isn't worth throwing away for a more reliable truck that isn't down as much.

He was having a host of problems before they found the turbo speed sensor was totally pooched. Now, not a single problem and amazing fuel economy.

Interesting. How come the same truck with an N14 of similar HP and torque wouldn't get the same milage?

Because 20-25 years of difference in technology. LOL

But that N14 will run a million miles with little more than oil changes.

Well im in a 579 built in aug of 2014 and here is what im dealing with. Company truck.
Coolant surge tank and sensor replaced $500 plus sensor.
    Apu just stopped.
Side plastic on pass side over fuel tank almost fell off yesterday.
Side plastic behind doors the tall piece where pipes should be need new grommets. This truck seems to ride rough.
    Clutch seems funny.
413,000 oil changed every 15,000. But truck is falling apart.
I've had 800,000 mile century shaker trucks hold up better.

Guys are telling me their cat powered w900 gliders are costing them way more than a emission truck and get 1 mpg less than the isx .. I have to wonder at what point a glider is no longer cost effective

What truck is this? I'm no mechanic but I've never heard of such a thing. All the transmission work I've seen done the mechanics would park the truck over the pit and put a jack underneath and drop it.

I would have to say Volvo even though I haven't drove one yet.

    I had a 2 year old 680 I drove for 2 months when I 1st started.

It's was the 36 inch bunk , thing drove like my old 71 Pinto from 40 years ago.

Only 250 thousand on it and front end was Shot.

Night and day getting into my Western Star, but it still rides rough with its straight front axle.

An air bagged front independent suspension is the only way to ride.
