...and the truck atlas doesn’t show the cities and towns I’ll be stopping in. Is there a reliable free online resource that will show me road restrictions, low overpasses, etc. that I can use?

    G13Tomcat Thanks this.

Google maps and your road atlas is all you need.
Read every sign like you were taught in truck driving school.
If you are unsure about a bridge , use street view on google maps to read the sign in advance.
You company should give you a route option so thats a good place to start.
If all else fails call the receiver or shipper and ask questions.
    Trucking existed long before GPS

The maps thing on your phone should be enough. Just use it CAREFULLY. It will route you down Elm Street without thinking twice.

PC*Miler Web offers a free 24-hour trial of their online routing software (PC*MILER Web). I'm not sure if you need to punch in a credit card in order to start the trial but it's worth a shot.

They went out of business last month.

We launched ONE20 Inc. in 2015 as a way for drivers to get access to the tools they need to do what they do, without spending an arm and leg. We gave it our best shot.

On June 18, 2018 ONE20 Inc. will be ceasing operations. We wish it wasn’t true but sometimes you win and sometimes you take one on the nose. This time it’s our turn.

Your ONE20 apps (ONE20 Maps, My ONE20 and ONE20 F-ELD) will NOT continue to work. We won’t be doing any updates or offering any support.

We’ll miss you and hope that you all continue to support each other the way you always have. Who knows, maybe we’ll meet again down the road.

    Keep it rubber side down,
    The ONE20 Team

Google maps doesn't show restricted routes or low clearance.

Calling customers is the way to go , you just have to make sure the person your talking to understands you in a tall 70ft vehicle. Lol
Sally the receptionist will always tell you how she driver to work.
Low clearances can be found in an atlas.
I don't know of a FREE online resource that you'll get what you need.
Someone posted Pcmiler It's a good resource and I think the trial period is x amount of routes you can run not time based like 24hrs.
Either way , you could use it long enough to copy down direction in and out of your customers.
I remember you posting about your new gig but , Idont recall if you said it was a dedicated route?

Google map routes cars around car routes. It will send you to truck-restricted routes.
