Your comment regarding the trailers... Werner has a standing order at Wabash for something like 500 new trailers a month. Every month. Also, Werner does not trade trailers back to Wabash. They sell them as they do their used tractors. Remember they have in excess of about 24-25,000 trailers. The ratio used to be 3 to 1, I don't know what it is now.

    LOL, you're welcome!

Yes the post was for you! You stay positive, upbeat, cheery even and you work for the most blogged about company on the site. I'm just suggesting you deserve to be happier, or at least that they don't deserve YOU.

I would like to share my nightmare with ptl. If you were to sit in the driver's lounge in murray you would here one central theme from the drivers. "they don't care". Driver are referring to the management of the company. Most of the staff treat the drivers like we are thier enemy. The ay they talk to eachother is soooooooooo very different from the way they address drivers. They talk to drivers as if they are a nusense or the scum at he bottom of a twenty year old dumpster. The management style of ptl is not one of co-operation. Rather it is one of competition. Mostly at the drivers expense. They failed to invest in apu's so they have a person that spends the day threatening to fire drivers if they idle the truck. Ptl could'nt care less if a driver died from heat exhaustion or freezing cold in the truck. You just better not idle! They have started installing some apu's but it's too little too late for most drivers. At most companies , if a driver quits they at least try to find out why. If possible they will make some attempt to fix the problem. At ptl they just route you to murray ky to turn in the truck. They don't care. They are rude, apathetic, somtimes incompetent, and abusive. Want to know more... Just ask another ptl driver. I will be an x ptl driver very soon!

Unfortunately it looks like we have to go to work for one of the "driver mills" for no money while the experienced drivers blame us for dragging down the industry. Great situation. Almost makes me want to reconsider starting my 2nd career as a driver. If only I didn't love driving so much. :biggrin_2553:

Thank you I just feel so devestated among other things to the point of hopless, despair, and well some other thoughts that are not good. When something like this happens I feel like such a failure even though I did nothing wrong at the company but I guess my only options are to either move on and pray someday when the industry picks back up things will be better again or just kill myself.

I haven't worked for Werner in over two years and when I did it was not as a driver. I've been on both sides so understand what most of these people are saying. I left because I had to report to the wicked witch of the west. One day I fired up my computer, saw some emails that she had sent that confirmed what I thought she was trying to do to me. Discredit me as much as possible for whatever reason. I have a strong work ethic and it cut me to the core. Don't know why, but I was her pick of the week and it wasn't for the gold star. LOL. I called and resigned that day. This isnt meant to be construed as whining either. You know I hate that. I loved my job and I loved the company. Actually I'd go back today if they would take me. Well, maybe not today, I'd to get my hair and nails done first. LOL Leaving wasn't a mistake except for the financial part of it.
I think when I respond to posts, I try to be realistic about them. Werners not for everyone. If you work inside the amount of stress is unbelievable, they aren't easy to work for inside either. Being a driver for them, is a love/hate relationship. All drivers should be treated well and from what I know, that just doesn't happen at Werner or any big company. I think one of the many reasons is the inside people who the driver has contact with. Those poor people don't have a clue about what a driver goes through. Most of them can't spell TRUCK. But, the driver doesn't know what the inside person has to put up with either. Lack of communication skills on both parts for one thing leads to much unhappiness.
But thank you, I do try to keep myself positive and there are days it's very very hard to do. I do deserve to be happy and you are correct, they didn't deserve to have me. But, they did give me an excellent source of income and valuable experience that I couldn't have gotten anywhere else. My posistion was new to the industry, not just Werner, so my group was the test group.
Did I mention in a previous post that I worked for them? Or was I too much on the soapbox? This isnt the only company that I do posting on, so I try not to be too biased. I don't do my postings in blue or anything like that. So, what was the tipoff?
BTW keep up the posts, your stuff is great to read. :biggrin_25525:

belive me when i say i know how you feel... once long ago (sounds like the start of a fairy tale lol) i had a job that i loved more than any job i'd ever had. i got fired. i did the best job possible. i went beyond the call of duty. but i got fired. i got fired because i was loyal to the wrong people and they werent loyal to any other but themselves. it killed me, i cried for days. drivers called me to see how i was,i cried when i talked to them. drivers called me at night for help, even tho they knew i wasnt with the company. i still loved the company. and as stupid as this sounds, i still in a way grieve for the job. but, i got a new job and made loads more money and it helped me make my way thru the industry
i know that the wounds you're feeling are still very fresh, i understand that. i will tell you that you need to make a list of the things you need to do to get going again. i will tell you that werner isnt the only trucking company on the planet so its time to start looking. i realize that the economy is soft and blah blah blad but there are driving jobs out there. dont let the jerks who post all the negatives affect your thinking. you will find another job. you will survive without them, trust me i know it for a fact. you will have to change your werner blue clothes for another color.
do you have a family to support?
where do you stay with friends or family?
go file for unemployment, dont believe all the crap about not getting it. you need to go on monday and find out for yourself, also they can help you find a job. jobs and family services is what i think its called. if you dont have money, apply for everything that you can. forget pride if you need financial help. you can repay all of it by getting back to work asap
dont go off by yourself if you have the thoughts i think you are conveying to me. please dont.
i can tell you from experience that the light at the end of the tunnel isnt always a train...
I wish i could talk to you in person but i dont see anyway to do that. i dont think they let you post telephone numbers on here. stay in touch. please.

THank you for the kind words of ecouragement and support. I wasnt able to get home till Friday evening because of the bus schedules and such so all I have been able to do is send off applications to various places and hope early next week something may come up, I also applied for unemployment and I know Werner uses Drivers Management LLC or whatever for payroll and technically your suppose to use Nebraska systems but heck with it I have read on this site about others who have not used the NE systems and won so I am doing the same. The sad part is all the waiting because it does make that knife I have been holding in hands for days and the bottle of bills beside me that much more appealing. I am fighting a battle that sometimes I win and sometimes I loose I look at my daughter and my fiance and feel as if I have failed them in everyway, father, husband, provider all of it then I tell myself at others that it wasnt my fault they screwed up and took 4 months to come back about it so I dont know I am just taking each minute and hour and day step by step. Again thanks for what you said it does make me feel as if there is hope in does allow me to maintain that hope and stay on this world one more day. Thank you again I appreciate it .
