Don't click on this button unless you are ready to be insulted.
I wish it were possible to take my laptop back in time to 1965-1970 when my father and some of his friends were sitting having coffee and enjoying each others company. I would show them this thread and let them read all the comments. Some of them would make them laugh. I'm not going to get too deep into this subject because as Lt Daniel Kaffee told Col Nathan Jessep in the movie A few Good men. "you can't handle the truth". However I will say this. The main problem is most of today's drivers are crybabies that is not happy unless they have something to gripe about. These other problems these drivers cry about are systemic and have been part of trucking since before I was born (1958). The only change has been the Feds and the insurance carriers have got tighter. I wonder why that happened.

Wow what coincidence. All these new articles about a driver shortage hitting the news at the exact same time that the ATA is pressuring the FMCSA to allow younger interstate drivers. It’s almost like they want to convince the average citizen that there is a problem that can only be solved with one solution.

Here we go one of those self righteous truckers. As a matter of fact, I have messed up in the past. I've paid my dues. I have more than paid my dues and came back better than ever. I want you to know that you aren't talking to a little boy here. I'm on my grown man business. Don't come on here with that attitude bro. You've probably messed up in your life too. The difference between you and I is that I got caught. You didn't. Your luck may have been just a little better than mine is. Nobody here is perfect, I didn't say lower their standards. I said reexamine them. Our get so many people who are in it that don't really want to pay their dues as you said. Maybe that person who has either paid their debt to society, or gone to rehab, or had a near death experience finally gets the picture. Why not take another look at those folks? Rather than keep churning out all these divas?

They graduate but once they see it isn't the fairy tale made up in their mind, they're out. Here it is a holiday, they can't get home and be with the family to BBQ, they get in their feelings, then they quit. So many people want to make the money, but are unwilling to give up anything.

I don't think there are anymore "better" general carrier trucking company's out there anymore. Some small to very small, some are not general carriers and are not for hire (are better). I have been speaking to a lot of people in small to large carriers all across the country either via phone or social media. Every one of them are actively seeking drivers. Most everybody in here know that @Chinatown and I don't agree on some things. However I think this is one we agree on. Their all dropping standards.

The gold diggers want to know how many points you have on your truck stop card.

You're right brother. To me trucking is trucking regardless of who you drive for. I think you have develop a high BS tolerance. The regs don't bother me too much only because I can't remember all of them lol....I've tried to position myself in my career in which I deal with people who knows how all of this works, not always successful. If they dont, theyd have to be willing to learn. Our company has a couple of people who work in the office. Only one is experienced in logistics. She knows about hours of service and such. That makes a huge difference in me seeing steady money. We work with a particular broker who is a master at planning because of his knowledge on trucking. When you have green horns calling the shots, there are times where it shows in your pay.

I thought the teamsters union was for truck drivers. Is that not so?

Driving should follow the federal minimum wage, and then a cpm on top of that. the CPM is basically a commission. Then you're in good shape,
