    BEST RESPONSE (so far)..thanks 'Texan!'

I'm not getting you? My buddy is forced to run 3000 miles a week. He's on salary with a Medical shipping company. So, he's forced to take his 36 somewhere.

How are you able to drive less than 10 hrs a day?

    Thanks...

A driver drives according to the loads they are dispatched on. Weekends factor in, poor dispatching factors in, bad luck factors in, etc. But "slow weeks" are common for many. Some carriers actually assume their "average OTR driver" will only drive 2,400 miles/wk under their dispatch model. They have too many trucks to avert the risk have having too few trucks ... so, few drivers have the opportunity or dispatches that allow one to run 11 hour days 5-6 days straight. It just does't happen at most of the huge dry van companies.

    tman78 Thanks this.

Explaining doing recap hours instead of taking resets is difficult. My wife cannot get it.

I'm guessing the golden handcuffs are secure enough that he might as well be.

Is a beer delivery guy a "slave" because he has a set list of stops to make and is expected to make them? Have we reached a point where "the individual" should be allowed to work the way they want and when they want? That's sounds like the definition of an owner-operator, not an employee driver.
