I am starting a trucking company and wanted to ask which trailer is better to run, Which has a better success rate regualr dry vans, reefers, flatbed..etc. Also is it smart to start a freight brokerage at the same time or should I get the trucking strong then start the brokerage? Any help is appreciated, Thank you and God bless.

Greg, I noticed you are from Cali. Nothing pays great out of Cali. Specialized/Oversized freight pays the most, but that is consistant nation wide. Rates seem to be a little better for platforms than vans, but its all subjective. In other words there is an exception to every instance. If I were you I would take a look at what comes out of your area with decent revenue and base my decision based on what is available and keep yourself open to flexablility. What works today, may not work tomorrow. Good Luck!

why in the world would ANYONE want to start a truck business in this environment, in good times you only have a 50/50 chance of surviving the first year and this is the worst business climate I have ever seen in trucking.
