    That's exactly what I do.
I just sit at the tables adjacent to the Liars Counter and wait for them to get wound up.

Muscle shirts, Dale Earnhardt caps, compression socks, and their air traffic controller blue blinking headset strapped high atop their noggin.

I always learn a lot while eat my blackened Salmon and green beans.

    QuietStorm and okiedokie Thank this.

    WOT?!

    I say this.

The radio can yell all it wants. My volume is down low, we don't hear it unless it's something life and death on Sandstone a couple miles ahead in a winter storm.

We are quietly coming and going while everyone is going over everything like children. They have their games into adulthood. That's fine whatever. We got actual work to do and not much time to get there.

Notice the quiet ones, they get things done. QUIETLY. And have been for a LONG TIME. 10, 20, 30 or even 40 years. (Those are the ones you want to have a coffee with, and maybe learn some things....)

Separate the children from the adults and leave the kids in trucking be. Don't be rubbing your 10 years or whatever at that point in the future new truckers.

I got about 30 give or take a year or two more if you count how long I held my CDl. But it's totally worthless now if I tried to hire onto any company in the industry the way they hire and treat new hires these days.

I am happy to teach you what little I can. Maybe help you if you need it if it's really necessary. But otherwise if you are busy and getting things done, I'll just leave you be.

And the children? Oh my I remember when I was a kid once myself.. The difference being I had many "Trucker Daddies" old enough to be grandpappies teaching me some things when they had a chance to.

One of my favorites is this....

One parking space in a truckstop. 5 truckers want it. In those days long ago we solved it with a simple question. Who got the class A first by year?

(one says 1975! HA. I get it. Next might say no, 1968 here I get it. A third might squeak oh, shoot 1985 here. (All laugh) finally number five with gravel says 1948 sonnies move please.

We 4 will move, dont you worry. It's his spot now in those days.

These days" It's easier to stand in a half empty walmart parking lot and watch 50 cars fight to park in the first 10 spots by the front door. (8 of which are painted bright Blue for handicapped)

Or 10 trucks play the game of blocks. Tetris or whatever you call it to get that last spot against everyone else.

We have lost a little something good over the years. And it's not good.

Im pretty sure you can build a 10,000 space truckstop in Jersey city and we can fill it right up full all night today.

Hmmmmmm how about you bolt cut the chain broke into the warehouse and unloaded it yourself, and left the BOL on the last pallet.
Then dispatch wouldn't answer so you deadhead home 550 miles.

No...you get out of your truck and do it in person. I tore lengthy strips off one of our drivers last week for tailgating me for 50 miles. He did not have a radio. My euphemisms included his mother, his sexual preference and his country of origin(eastern european) which I suggested he return to forthwith.

I've been lost more miles than you've driven.
