Lake Arrowhead? You drive a rig up and down that hill?
Robertson's real slow right now. It is now Tuesday night around 9PM. My employee # with Robertson's is over 2000. Yesterday they brought in up to #1450 or something like that. Today it was 1904, 1905 thru 2140 scheduled off. Last week I did one load. Could have had two but decided to take Friday off and go to three Veterans Administration house appraisals along with two repair inspections (been appraising since April of 1978...got with Robertson's 1-02007 when I was down to doing 2-3 appraisals a week). Right now only driving with Robertson's for my Kaiser medical coverage. Would be nice to get some more loads in per week...burned out dealing with loan officers, loan processors, underwriters, real estate agents, homeowners, etc, etc, etc.
My day driver (2AM to 2PM) was talking with Marten about going to work for them. Have not talked with him since last Friday morning so not sure if he took the job.
Oh, since work has been slow since mid-October, have been taking every Wednesday off so, at best, expect to have probably two loads this week if they bring me in Thursday and Friday nights. Have been usher at church since March of 1991 and am real loath to stop that. Interestingly, another usher at my chruch is a local driver with J. B. Hunt, based in San Berdo. Started as a dispatcher but now drives...would not go back to dispatching, saying it is too political and cut-throat.
Are you company driver, lease, or o/o?

Someone asked about refreshers up there, or going to Central after only having local/ regional experience.
This was the situation I was in. I drove on and off since 1992. Basically all local and regional.
I had to go to there school for a refresher. It was just a week long, since all instructors agreed that I had nothing to learn there.
I then went to Orientation and with a trainer for a few weeks.
My trainer tried to get me an upgrade after a week, but safety made me stay with him for 2.
I then upgraded and was on the road.
I had to pay for the refresher, which was a waste of money. But It was only 50 a week for 8 months, and less time if you apply your safety bonus. I was paid off in full in 6 months.
Hope this helps.
BTW. Reefer is easy. I am hauling flatbed now. Steel mostly, but anything on back hauls. It is not bad. When we have appointment times they are during the day, and most of the time we do not have them at all.
Tarping is a chore. Chaining is more attention to detail than anything. Chains are not that heavy, and give you some exercise.
I was tarping a load a few weeks ago outside Detroit. It was -7 below. Not a fun day. The wind was blowing and windchill was about -30. Had to roll the tarp out fast and get to the ground and bungee it quick so it would not blow off.
I was also much cleaner on reefer. I seem to stay dirty now. -

I agree with Chrome, I couldn't stay clean either when i worked for SMX. That's why this time i went back to the refer side. It really sucks to throw a Lumber tarp in high winds.

Largest tarp we have is about 26' with a 4' drop.
We don't normally use lumber tarps due to size and weight. Also it is rare that we haul anything we need a full size tarp for.
Though when we have a full load putting 3 tarps on it is a pain. -

Comany driver here, but they keep asking me to go L/O. I would shoot myself before I would do that.
