Thought I would try to story my beginning experience here at USA Truck.
Left Chattanooga Tn on Greyhound 9:15pm sat. arrived in Fort Smith Ar at 11:00am sun. Arrived at the hotel it had no heat in the first room moved to second room very slow to warmup. Pick up was at 5:30 in the morning we had around 40 in the orentation class, and all looked to be well groomed and proud to be alive. We filled out paper work and did drug screen before lunch, after we ate pizza provided by USA Truck, some went to the driving range and some went to have a physical. Everybody that I met including a few drivers that were passing through were very nice. Sitting back in the hotel room at the Howard Johnson with freezing rain falling outside, wonder if we will get picked up in the morning. G-night all and stay safe and drive safe.

my finance is on his 2nd day of class with USA Trucking, the only complaint thus far, is the nasty motel he's in. however, he's a good sport and recognize that you don't kick a gift horse in the mouth. If he had $ he would go to a better hotel, but at this time-$ are not plentiful, so beggars shouldn't be chosey. lol I am somewhat afraid of the thought of him not being around often. He must stay with the company for 1yr and then he can transfer to a company here at home, sooo I will be strong and tough this out. I love him so much and with that being said, he has my support. I have read the horror stories on this site about some of the trucking companies lack of manners. My advise to all "get your own experience with the company you go to work for, and not someone elses.
Peace out
Lonesome and panhandlepat Thank this. -

Well the second day left the hotel early again cold and wet some ice forming on trees power line. Arrived at the terminal had the some of the "breakfast" they have fruit, cereal, and some cereal bars. Sat around for about an hour went out and did the "test drive" more like the test maneuvers. Test was turn left, drive around park on the 5 dots, pull up stop front bumper correctly, pull around and back into the "alley dock", pull out make right turn, drive around and park trailer tandems on "scales". I will just say I passed. After the test sat around some more they brought in some tasty sandwiches for lunch. After that we watched a couple videos did some paper work. Then we were given some more sandwiches and sent home to the hotel. Well good night we will see if we go tomarrow it wet and 29 out there right now. Drive safe.

I know its hard on truckers wives as I am married with 2 kids. Hopefuly you have family close by that can give you the support you need. Its great that you support him the way you do as it is hard on drivers to be away as much as they are, but this job has a way of getting in your blood and it is hard to do anything else, no other job like it. Be strong and appreciate the time you do get together. Good luck to your husband and hope for the best for both of you.toni Thanks this.
