Am I crazy for considering trucking?

Man you had to have killed some keyboards over the years! LOL.

 

Never fails to mention how many pills he takes. Probably too high to realise how many paragraphs hes done until he snaps back to reality.

 

Go for it. It's a well paying, steady profession. The first 6 months may be hard because the company you get in with may give you all the hard runs. After the first 6, you can have your pick, as long as you had a good record.

 

The "dangers" of the road are not quite as severe as your mind would have you believe.
Being female, your risks are greater and you have to keep your guard up because bad people are everywhere.
But, you'll find that trucking is a VERY welcoming industry.

You'll eventually make a very healthy income if you stick it out and become a pro.
That won't happen in the first six months. A lot of new drivers get discouraged when they're not at top pay and pulling the best loads, with steady home time right out of the gate.
It doesn't work that way.
You have to climb the ladder and prove yourself.
Be thankful that you'll NOW be given top notch equipment to start with.. because we didn't get it when we started 30-40 years ago. It was junk.

If you get homesick on a vacation, or the like...this is gonna be bad for you.
This industry requires a loner mentality.
You have to be able to be by yourself and function with no one else.
It's YOU on an island.

You'll grow to love it.
Some keep a pet with them to stem the solitary days.

You can do this.
You'll only ever know for certain if you take the first step.

The original G15 which sits in the closet. That one took 10 years to die. Mostly gaming.

The second G15 it's not doing well but considered a spare. It's known as something else now.

Third keyboard is a X7 from A4tech. It's held up so far. The mice on the other hand well... There was a a time we used metal bodied weighted mice with a variety of configurable buttons to either slow the pixel counting down slow for sniping or crank it very high to force a tank turret to swing really fast around. I am currently on the Zalman model ZM-GM4 which is not metal but weighted seriously inside. It's held up so far. The problem is the original two suffered the dance of death when pounded on the table once too many times throwing the laser out of line. Then it begins to jerk the mouse all over the screen. (Throw it away...) after less than a year. The Zalman is going on three years 24/7 so far. I'll probably replace it with another.

Ordinary mice just vanish into my hands. I cannot and will not use them. Arthritis also. So the big customs can be resized by length using a wrench just so.

Ordinary keyboards, the 10 dollar ones, they only last three months with me. Throw them away. Might as well pay up for a good strong gaming keyboard like the Logitech.

The complete and utter irony of all this is this....

Our deaf school stuck us behind a IBM Business typewriter with a large ball type device for dot matrix on paper. Typing out paragraphs. So boring. Never need to learn typing, why bother. Such a waste.

Little did we knew then what was coming in the form of the internet and satellite in trucking.

The other part of the keyboards particularly the cheap ones is the spouse. Stop buying cheap keyboards to pound on and break. Enter the mighty Logitech G15 in it's original form. I don't think I will ever have one like that lasting a decade ever again in this lifetime.

 

Same here man gear matters! I am 100% always special ops so I sneak around all the time! Steeling flags, planting C4, silent kills, lol. I can only use a thumb trackball mouse though! Great for head movement and flying choppers and jets. I wish logitech would bring back the corded track ball though. I prefer hard wired everything.
