Yeah, no I'm not making excuses I just know exactly what I have to work with up front and the total combined cost of getting started has to remain... well under that. I'll have a preliminary insurance quote in the morning, waiting on that call.

    PharmPhail:
I saw the truck 1pod is talking about, and to me not seeing it in person,
it is a good deal. For one it has a overhaul with papers, and it looks as though it was fairly well taken care of. So here are some other pros, it is cheaper, and quicker to pay of, and your insurance is going to be a
lot cheaper. I would give it more consideration then those you have on your page. IMO

Here is the quick and dirty on Roehl's hometime fleet.

7/7 two drivers share one truck. The truck parks at either a terminal or at a drop yard. 7/4-7/3 is similar but three drivers share two trucks. 7/7 leaves on Saturday and you return on Friday. The idea is to get you home just as your seventy hours runs out. They tell you that you'll run about three thousand miles but I would count on about twentythree hundred to twentyfive hundred. They don't make you drive tired or illegal and like any company they are as good or bad as your dispatcher. The hometime fleet always has one of two dispatchers working 365. That means you always know who you're dealing with. They aren't terrible, it's just I'm very independant and my priorities are different from theirs. They are also very "controlling." My wife puts it this way, "they want to tell you how to wipe your butt."

As you know, I am certainly no expert on going out on your own. seen a lot of people make it and seen some who didnt.
but, your points are so valid. not just this post but all of them.
the one that really caught my eye was about the truck being a tool. it is just that a tool. if its a cool truck and it works for you thats great, but again you're right its a tool.

I am no liar and i will be honest.I may have to choice to do that out of kansas city so i can take care of things around here..Meanwhile i can pick up some other hours doing other things...

Yes, to me it all sucks to work for big companies..but they have health care for 7/7 and they have my hometime for me..i would only ''hope'' they could do 3,500 for my 7 days of time..forgot to mention they offered me 38 cents a mile i am pretty sure thats what she said.

We have all talked about the truck being a tool, all of us. You, 1POD, me and a zillions others on here.

No one and I mean no one is making you out to be a pie in the sky daydreamer. If no one had any dreams this country would still be woods and fields.

No one in this thread is trying to hurt your feelings or make you mad, they are expressing their opinions. And... as you know, opinions are like azzzz holes, everyone has one. If we didn't really care anything about you making it, you wouldnt have any replies to any of your posts. We want you to be profitable and safe.
