Engine is an NXS ACERT C15 TWIN turbo....475hp.....I've been quoted $540 by CAT in Hammond and $800 by CAT in Elmhurst.....
Seems excessive to me....
Peterbilt said 1hr labor + whatever CAT charges them for the ECM file.....
How much should a CAT re-rate cost??

From aftermarket companies with cat files it has ran me 300. If i go cat or local dealer directly outs usually 800
-
The factory password from CAT is either 300 or 330. Then whatever the dealer charges for labor.
-
Depends on what tune and who does it. 800 is not a bad price
-
If just installing a CAT file, say taking a 475 horse to 550 horse, and making changes like removing or changing the governed speed, the Diesel Doctor charges $400. Main location is in Effingham, IL. But they have another somewhere in the Carolinas I think. Takes 30-45 minutes. I've done 2 there and never heard any mention of a password.

The CAT dealer here charges $600. Sometimes they run specials that drop the price if you combine it with a PM service.
-
I asked combined with running the overhead and an oil and filter change......CAT Hammond quoted $1,700, CAT Elmhurst quoted $2,000.....windsmith Thanks this.
-
I had the overhead run on my C12 along with a PM service, and it came in at $800. Seems to be within the range. Cleveland Brothers, Wilkes-Barre PA.
