Not sure where to begin. I recently graduated Tri-State semi driver training. I have my class A CDL with all endorsements including haz-mat. Due to my lack of ORT, and a few minor MVR set backs which are 2 speed violations and an accident, non-commercial, these were prior to my cdl, I am having difficulty landing a job. I was wondering if it is possible to get my training through an owner/operator. I would be willing to accept training pay of $400/wk. if it is a possibility to get verifiable ORT this way. I wasn't sure how it works with insurance companies to have someone drive as a trainee so, that would be a consideration as well. I am a 38yr. old, clean-cut, non-smoker drug-free with great attitude and work ethics who just needs someone to give me a chance. I realy would love someone to teach me the way. If you have any other advise, please feel free to share.
Sincerely, Kevdog
Looking for someone to train me

Best of luck man. The main problem you are gonna have is the large guys who self-insure and could take you will turn up their noses, and that MVR would really strap down an O/O for it to be profitable at all. You'll have to look into some commercial insurance quotes to really get an idea for how much difference it really makes. Anyway, it's a LOT!

Second, Sorry to change the subject but curious of how the surgury went, who'd u injury it an how it turned out? I went in Dec 17th myself....unsure of results yet........ -
I tell you what IT SUCKED!!!! only the 1st 2 days did. I had a torn rotator cuff torn labral tendon and 3 screws put in my R shoulder. Had surgery October 24/2008, Doc said I was gonna be out for 6mnths. Almost but I think being in pretty good shape helped. I worked out every day for about 1-2 hours untill my shoulder fianly just said I cant take this anymore and gave out. It would keep me up every night. This was an old football injury, baseball injury. Im still not back to working out but sure does feel so much better, I can sleep again!!! I would say another 2 months I will be 100% I feel like im at about 80-85% now. I know alot of people who have had shoulder surgery and the biggest part of rehab is make sure you do you PT. If not you gonna hate life. My PT helped so much mainly all the streatching. Getting range of motion back is the tuffest thing. Lots of painful PT. Well GL if ya get it fixed

.
I hate to be the fly in the ointment here. But many of the major companies, don't pay $400 a week for training.
I seriously doubt you will find an O/Op that will either. I could be wrong.... -
I was just guessing he was willing to stay in the training capacity for 6 months to a year considering the situation. -
Have you tried local work.. containers, dirt, dump trucks, hardware warehouses, groceries?? anything to get some experiance.. some will start out running a couple states.. You just work yourself up from there??
