THESE COMPANIES WILL KEEP THE LOW WAGES AS LONG AS THERE ARE DESPERATE DRIVERS OUT THERE WILLING TO WORK FOR BEANS AND RICE. WERNER, SWIFT, STEVENS, PRIME JUST TO NAME A FEW.... NEW DRIVERS ARE THE BIG PROBLEM SINCE THEY DON'T HAVE A CLUE AS TO WHAT THEY SHOULD BE MAKING AND NO EXPERIENCE TO BARGAIN WITH. HOWEVER...EDUCATE MORE NEWBIES AND WE MIGHT GET SOMEWHERE...MAYBE...
davan2004 Thanks this. -
We all have a story to tell, some more horrifying than others. I guess it depends on who you're talking with at the time. They're all pretty bad, problem is- they don't realize it. But, the "recruiter" from JB Hunt puts them ahead by a nose!

My Opinion Dry Van & Flatbed CRST of Cedar Rapids, Iowa
Refer = C.R. England of Salt Lake City
They have both ruined alot of lives, and continue to still do so! -
ok, I did not read all 90 pages of posts but the worst companies that I know of are both small companies
southwestern express out of oklahoma city, the co. is owned by a guy who would (in my opinion) sell his grandmother to a brothel just o make a dime) and most of their profit is made by screwing drivers and lease operators
the other is a private oilfield sevice company called a & a tank truck
to them, saftey is a foriegn word
then there is LHL trucking another oilfield service co. their motto is "run till you drop, and if you drop, its only because you are a P*$$y"
the pay sucks, and they screw the drivers out of most of it, nobody in managment can pass a UA (this I know because I used to be the warehouse manager)
since I quit, they have killed 2 drivers by running them into the ground
(perfect saftey record while I worked there) -
Worst one? Werner doesn't care about their drivers. They would rather shut a truck down and make you swap out a load rather than get more $$$. They also have the WORST breakdown department you will ever deal with. Unless you can get in on a dedicated account (i.e. Target or Walmart DC loads), you are gum on the bottom of a shoe to them.
I don't know who said Roehl was a great company. That was the weirdest, most political company I have ever worked for in any industry.
I can't say much about Swift, having never worked for them, but I have managed to see enough stupidity out of their drivers to be glad I didn't go to their school. I went to school with MCT up in Sioux Falls. At least their instructors cared, and they did have brains. -

For example, Where I live its a major shipping lane for prime. I see close to 50+ prime trucks coming by my house a day and I've actually spoke to a few around there (i was thinking about going with prime...well still am) And they say they get home almost every weekend and the max is every 10-14 days which is pretty common for most carriers. And most of the drivers i've spoken to live around 30 mins or so from me.
