If you've got a job, you're way ahead of the game. They may have some good dedicated routes after a while.

I say go for it. You do realize you may have to work at least a year for them, unless you paid your own tuition for CDL training. I am awaiting approval ( week or so) before I head to school, then on to the employer for a year. When you don't have the funds to advance ( anywhere from $3300.00 to over $6,000.00) you gotta go the other route.

Just read alot, and then read alot more. you need to go into this with your eyes open. It is tuff out there in alot of industries, not just this one. But listen to what you hear, the recruiter most likely wont be telling you the whole story. These folks are telling it, some VERY harshly, but this is the story.

You have to make the decission but know what decission you are making !!

OK, been with Swift a year here. Based from Sumner, WA. Fresh driver from a local school. After 6 weeks of mentoring (babysitter), I started in Heavy Haul (Costco mostly). For the 1st 3 months I went hungry. After that it got better- $750-900 a week.
Here's my advice. Talk to your Driver Manager (DM).... ALOT! Need more money? Tell him! Hometime? Tell Him. Don't say it once and expect it to be done. Also, keep an eye on your trucks condition. Get it fixed and don't take "one more load". The DM wants the rig to roll. I went 2 weeks past time on a B-service, then finally turned it in because I had noted a pull on the brakes. 2 broken retainer springs...
In 10 months, I've gone from Heavy Haul to dedicated run to local intermodal. Get your time in, keep talking to drivers at the truck stops, and find a good home.

Best of luck, and roll safe!

Your going to pay for that CDL one way or another...If you can check on getting help from a local program..You may do better if you aren't indebted to the company you work for...If you leave before you pay them back...I dunno they may stick something bad on your DAC "it's like a drivers credit score"
