Aluminum polishing? What are your best tips?

My best advice is keep up on it and you won’t ever need this........ to do this....... it took a full day just to do each 100 gallon tank because they had been so neglected over the last 17 years.

very nice work. and great advice on keeping up on it. i do my whole truck every spring and generally a couple quick touch ups here and there in between. much easier than starting from scratch every few years.

this last winter was really hard on my aluminum i don't like to wash inside my shop and the routes and schedule i was running this last winter made it very hard to get by a truck wash. it took spending a few hours each weekend for a couple weeks this spring before i could stand to look at my truck again.

 

Just paint your tanks, no polishing required.

 

I polish my wheels every week. A fast rack every week keeps em lookin good. Tanks and steps and the hard stuff about every 3 months or so. I use rebel red for most hand polish jobs. And zephyr products for machine

 

Thread bump but easier to use this one than start new. My Alcoa wheels are only about 3 months old, have seen some salt but not a ton. Did my first hand polish 2 weekends ago and wasn’t very impressed how they polished out.. do they already need to be cut or could I get better results using say a polishing ball in a drill or something? Was using California custom but it’s kind of old, dunno if that makes a difference

 

I'm tired of polishing and the hell of keeping them looking decent in the winter along with the spring buff out .
Got 6 new durabrites going on Thursday.
I'd rather work on my lawn lol.

 

Majority of our fleet has DBs but my truck is 1 of 3 they dealer bought and it didn’t come with them. I’m half tempted to ask the shop to swap mine with a drivers truck who doesn’t give a rats *** lol
