You know if we let them succeed with this ELD mandate that a more repressive mandate will follow, they have rooms full of real smart people making up rules. You are already doing a hard dangerous job with barely any thanks, have to carry you bed on your back, work hours that are hard on the body. Trucking prices are needing to rise because of the cost of all these new regulations or the industry will change to take more humans out of the equation. Do it legal, safe and for profit. It will take changing the way things are done.

I don't know if they are good, but my buddy, who is a driver at a shady Chicago outfit, said they are using this one and drivers can edit everything, including drive time Screenshot_20180728-110842_Google Play Store.jpg

Very simple.....you spend more time driving and less time at the truck stop. It's all about trip planning, and being prepared to make adjustments. You have to understand how to work the clock. You have to understand that you may work hrs that you don't necessarily care for. You can maximize your time by watching when you drive through major cities, go to sleeper berth on long delays at the shipper or receiver, don't fuel at truck stops that are constantly busy, and sometimes you can call ahead to the shipper and they can begin staging your load if you can give them an accurate ETA.

If the logging app is not connected to the ECM it is neither an ELD or an AOBRD. If you are running a truck that requires an AOBRD or ELD and you are running one of these apps, it is treated like paper and you will be in violation.
If you don’t already have an ECM connected AOBRD, the deadline has passed and you must buy an ELD.
You could buy an old truck to stay on paper but why run illegal? There is plenty of work to be had that doesn’t require you to do that. What’s more important, your bank account or the safety of families on the road?

The posted app is listed on the FMCSA ELD page and the picture includes a dongle.

Eld solutions is what I use. It is ok I'm not having any big problems with it. But no you can't edit drive time. The worst part of it is signing a 3 year contract.

Don't wanna use an eld? Look at the exemptions and run that way. Want to break the law? Be ready to lose your license when you get caught. Don't like the law? Get noisy with the ppl who make the laws. Overall, the eld mandate is workable, and many ppl are finding the eld helpful. I don't want to drive with exhausted drivers anymore than I want to drive with pot smokers or drinkers or druggies, or those with dangerous health conditions. It's 80K +/- of DEADLY FORCE IN MOTION. If truckers could have been trusted to drive safely, we wouldn't have the laws. Might be time to look for a different career if you can't follow the rules. Rule number one = Adapt or die.
