I spent my life crossing that darn GWB with all sorts of trucks. The one thing that did change is 10.00 tolls becomes 106 dollar tolls northbound today.laaylor Thanks this. -
Then: when did the 55' total rule start?
If the 55' total rule was passed BEFORE 53' trailers became standard for interstate transport it is outdated and should be done away with.
With the amount of warehouses in Queens (JFK Airport and LGA) and the Bronx not to mention the ones in Brooklyn and Manhattan, any type of restriction is stupidity.Bean Jr. Thanks this. -

You’ll be fine with a 53 footer and a daycab. Do not use any tunnels. To get into Manhattan from Jersey use either the George Washington Bridge or the Goethals and Verrazano bridge into Brooklyn from there you can take the Manhattan Bridge.

Heard last few times if you get caught with a 53 footer on RT 1 at the Conowingo, MD scales, fines are around $1,000.
