Are you crazy. There’s no reason th deadhead that kind of miles. Sweet Jesus. 700 to 1000 miles do you even know what it cost you to move that truck and trailer per mile?

^^ that's right! Got to stay loaded! Burn more fuel! Tie up more time! Ignore all the guys making way more money and deadheading! Work harder not smarter!

Sweet Jesus- you could be hauling dollar a mile freight all over this country, and telling everybody you're successful and know what you're doing!!

I’m over $3 mile all miles and am currently at %20.98 deadhead. Yes, I do know my COSTS per mile to the penny.

Some of those miles are to get me home on the weekends too. Just the way I budgeted it.

I’m at 52k for the year and been off work for 6 weeks. So what 2300 week?

That’s already more than I like to run but trying to make hay while the sun is shining.

Running local like we do its not worth chasing something coming back to town. DH back for another $$$ load. 50% of our miles are empty

That applies no matter what the distance. If you are on a good paying gig the faster you get back to the money load the more money you make.

Don't take it out of context. I don't do it every single week. Going back to Chicago area for the weekend sometimes involves no freight available at all. True - when a situation happens, I don't hesitate and don't bother myself with what it costs - it's home drive, it's pleasure.

    Year To Date Dry box
    53609K miles
    11923 empty 22%
Days per diem 106.5 (I try to spend weekends at home)
    pay per mile
    loaded 2.81
    all: 2.18
cost per evey mile YTD 91 cents.
profit per every mile YTD 1.27
I project to clear 110-120K in 2018 at this work rate.
    I am content too.

Very cool. I just bought my own flatbed. My goal is 3000 miles a week at $3 per mile. First 2 loads so far Aren't doing it though 2.77 on 360 miles and then 2.59 on 1930 miles. I figured it would be easier considering how hot everyone says the market is LOL.

Where are you working out of? All of mine are not home runs either? I’ve hauled some $1.50 freight this year too. But I’ve also hauled some $8 mile freight cross country as well.

My average loaded miles are 430 loads.

This week I started from the house empty and run 4 loads. I’m empty on Thursday afternoon. 1700 miles for $5250.

Picking up A 300 miler now for $1950 to deliver today.
