Some companies do hair follicle drug test and some do urine test.
Need to be clean 12 months for hair follicle test.
Need to be clean 90 days for urine test.
    KLLM does hair follicle test.

If necessary, you can easily get a dump truck job in Mississippi as long as you have a cdl-A.
Cost of living is cheap in Mississippi, so it won't be long until you can start banking money by not spending it all just to survive.
People are bailing out of California fast. Driving around Las Vegas/Henderson, Nevada can see a California tag about every 5 or 10 minutes because so many are moving here.

160 hr. cdl schools are a good way to go. This way you have a couple dozen companies to choose from at graduation.
Get the tanker hazmat endorsements also. This way you have even more choices of companies.
If you get the hazmat endorsement in California, you'll have to get it again in Mississippi. Every state has this rule.
You will also need a TWIC ID Card for tankers. You may already have this working for CalTrans.
Some tanker outfits will reimburse the cdl school tuition back to you in monthly installments:
Trimac Transportation - hires from schools on their preferred list.
CTL Transportation - hires from about any 160 hr. school.
Schneider Bulk - hires from about any 160 hr. school.
These 3 hire Mississippi new cdl grads and have tuition reimbursement. There's probably a few more also

Yeah the state drug tests for CDL positions as well. As far as dump truck positions that would be great if they are willing to train me on 10 speeds. I have about 3 weeks exp. With a 10 speed and still needed a lot of work with grades and traffic. A lot of people are leaving. I gave my friends crap for living at home still but since I've moved back I completely understand why. Most local companies have manuals. I'm guessing my best bet would be to go with a Mega and stay long enough to get a local or dedicated route like I had in VA because almost all the megas fleets are automatics now

I already went to CDL school and have a certificate but I could go again I guess. I'd get BAH from the military and I'd have a better opportunity for a job after. Thanks I would have never thought of that.

You may not have to attend cdl school again, but probably need a refresher course.
Schneider Bulk (tankers) will pay for refresher course then hire you. The refresher they want is only 40 hours.
KLLM has their own in-house refresher course.

Abilene Motor Express might hire you. They do refresher on the road with an experienced driver.
FFE (Frozen Food Express) has in-house refresher course.

Yea my wife's family lives there. And I lived in VA for 3 years. I prefer other places lol but being close to family is the main reason. They are from Brandon MS so the Jackson area. It's a pretty nice area around the reservoir. Hated the weather in VA and I'm gonna hate it there too but the people and the way of life in the South will make up for it. People are pretty cool everywhere you go, traffic is nonexistent compared to CA. I hate everything in CA lol. And I live in riverside county. Cant afford anywhere else so I don't get the nice San Diego weather anyway. It was 117 the other week and surprisingly humid. I miss the thunderstorm and rain and GREEN. Rivco is like a desert wasteland haha everything is dead and theres fires everywhere.

Averitt Express has terminals in MS. They also have local and a refresher course but youll probably have to go to Cookeville,TN for orientation. They have both Van and Flatbed (Your Choice) in MS. They also have dedicated and LTL. I think they only run automatic transmissions now? They had pretty good benefits when I was with them (Medical, Life, Savings plan, Uniforms, etc). They do a lot of partnering with other freight companies and I think they also own First Express?
