That’s what I’d like to know too (related to company employee drivers) I assume he’s referring to contract drivers (paid on 1099)

He just doesn't know what he's talking about and he won't listen to anybody trying to help him.

But you know. It’s hard for me to fathom how the option to itemize (form 2106) has been completely removed for employees, even though that could far exceed standard deduction allowance. A complete slap in the face to many “employee road warriors”
-
I don't think they were exactly thinking of truck drivers when they made that change. At least the standard deduction was doubled. Drivers really need to let their companies know how important per diem is to them now with these changes.

If you have an s-corp that you use as a pass thru you can file Schedule C (I think), and claim it that way. My cpa thinks we can do it that way.
-
Simple. I have more income that requires more work to file. I can still itemize deductions.
Really. Huh last year 178,000 AGI in the household. Paid 13,500 in income tax. Nah you're right I should let you do my thinking for me
Now let's examine this lie about it costing companies money.
What do they do with the reduction they would have paid in employment (fica) taxes. Oh I am sure they pass that on to the driver.
And the reduction in workmans comp payments?
I bet you guys throw a big annual party off what that saves the company huh?
No? Gee they must be pocketing the difference while they keep bending you over with the common ####ing courtesy of a reach around.
You figure out what your tax liability (and likely sentence) will be for that withholding $63 a day yet? Or have you even figured out why that is the wrong number?gentleroger Thanks this. -
You're wasting your time, breath and energy.
Everyone know it's all about CPM,
06driver Thanks this. -
Nobody cares about your individual situation, dude. Jesus. This thread was made about per diem and the average company driver. Congratulations, you have a circumstance where you can still itemize. This isn't about you.
-
You asked why anyone wouldn't take company per diem. We've given you several reasons.
-
It was a rhetorical question and it definitely wasn't about people who can still itemize.
