Picked up in PA heading to TX. 8k lbs and 8 ft. Picked up a partial, 3 pallets (one is 20ft long), all 3 pallets weigh 250 lbs. Still 20ft left of deck space. Cant find a 3rd partial worth the time or out of route miles. Gonna be a good week!

Personally I would never load like that. I’d walk away from that load

..... so I've never hauled coils- what would be the advantage to doing it like that vs loading both on the deck? Any advantage?

Laziness l think. Quicker to unload maybe. Forktruck driver can go down the centre of the trailer and get 2 at a time. Some forktruck drivers get iffy about getting too close to the edge of the trailer. Side by side is a pita too because the chain doesn't really pull down nice on both. They have a tendency to walk together and then the chain is loose. Kind of a lose lose proposition he's in.

    Nope.

I've only had to tarp 2 pallets my entire flatbed career so far. Feels like a waste of money buying 4 and 8 ft drop sets.

    Oxbow Thanks this.
