They also have a one day course. Supposedly for those who studied before but did not pass the test.

But if they don't, how else will I know it's there from the constant pounding as I'm walking by to get back to my truck and keep the wheels turning?

Anybody can go into a DMV office and take the CDL permit test, wait 14 days and take the driving test without training, but it's not easy. The people who import these workers place them with mostly Indian and Middle Eastern owned companies the day after they get their CDL and put them on the roads without any training.

There were some middle eastern guys in California a few years ago that bribed at least 3 DMV employees tens of thousands of dollars to issue CDL's without taking the tests. The DMV employees were caught and all went to prison as did a few of the CDL school owners. I seem to recall hearing that around 5,000 drivers that used that school had their licenses revoked instantly. When I first started driving I saw some of these guys first hand at truck stops. Brand new Volvo trucks and no idea how to back them, or even which way to turn the wheel to back the trailer. It was pitiful to watch and scary at the same time knowing that these guys are on our highways.

Truckers aren't a wanted profession. People HATE truckers.

As long as the economy is good. And there are jobs to be had. No one will want to be a trucker.

It's when the economy sucks and jobs disappear. THEN they want to be truckers.

Wages are good because there's more jobs then truckers. When the tables turn. So do the wages. Right down the toilet.

We don't have to worry about a wave of new truckers. Until the economy crashes again.

Even if there was a way to "cheat" the system to get a CDL, which I find hard to believe with the new requirements for drivers licensing in general and the implementation of "Real ID" across the nation, they would not be able to get employed with a normal trucking company, large or small, if they can't meet the basic I-9 requirements and pass E-verify to prove that they are legally authorized to work in the United States.
