Did you say how long you had to stay with the trainer? She reminds me of my ex husband when I would try to back. He wanted it HIS way and I'd get so darn frustrtated I would just throw the parking brakes and get out of the seat. I only learned to really back when I was on my own and had to go to a place weekly in Chicago that had only inches on each side of the trailers and that was after teaming for 4-5 years. You'll get the backing thing and its WAY easier when no one is in the truck with you and no one is watching (course you have no one to see what you did).
I let my CDL-A go 5 years ago when I remarried and had to young kids (course the ex got to move to TN from MI, keep driving truck and only see the kids when it was convenient for him) now my hubby and I want to team for a year or two (we live in the UP of MI and will be loosing our house this summer grrrrr). I've been calling all over and trying to find a place that he can start at, then I can take a refresher course and go with him. Not much luck. If you move back to Green Bay try Schneider, you may have to wait a little bit til your husband gets a few months but when we talked to them they were willing to work with us (our only problem was we are in the UP and no one wants to hire out of here, although by summer we will be in Kalamazoo).
Something will come up. I was getting so depressed thinking there just was no way we could make this work because of me letting my CDL-A go but yesterday my husband talked to his company (been with them for 1 1/2 years) and he told him to have me send in my app and not to worry about not having my CDL-A they'll deal with that, but if the insurance company will take me they'll run us as a team.
Hang in there something will happen, now is just a bad time. -
schneider closed their schools and no longer hires newbies. If you do decide to complete training with the fat pig, (or any other) I suggest you carry a pocket tape recorder and let the trainer know you are using it. May help to change their attitude. If they refuse to train you because of it, then its obvious they want to hide something from management so you may then get a different trainer. Btw, federal harrassment laws are a serious deal and Im amazed that so many trucking companies put themselves in such a liability position with trainers who so blatently cross the line. Yes, you file a complaint against the company. Sexual harrassment need not involve sexual conduct. Its just plain harrassment to treat any worker in a degrading, non respectful manner. Complaints are taken very seriously and are always assumed to be factual and the burden falls to the company to prove innosense. Im not suggesting you file a complaint, only to be armed with knowledge to protect yourself and inform company management that you are not ignorant (as they are) of such matters. Btw, I now live a hour north of Houston and I like it here. Wisconsin really sucks. Well I grew up in California, so Im a sissy to cold weather..lol

Id call the EEOC and see if they will step in on your behalf. if a male trainee can go through more then one trainer but they only have one female trainer there may be some legal issues there.
At Werner my first trainer was a nut. he had anger management issues. twice he told me to hit cars, one time a car cut him off and he purposely tailgated and blew the air horn at them cussing up a storm. he even drove on my time a couple times because he didnt want to switch. -

Things can only get better, Vickster. It sounds like the FedEx offer might be the way to go.
